Admission process:

  • The admission process is fully online with an application fee of 1500 INR.
  • Admissions for both the programs are based on the results of the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET)and JEE Mains followed by interviews and counseling.

Sharda University has been awarded the best private university continuously over the years by National Education Awards. It has also been awarded the best Private Global University of the Year and the Best Innovative Engineering School in North.

Mechanical engineering is one of the most sought after courses at Sharda University. The institute offers a BTech course for Mechanical Engineering. It focuses on the practical understanding of engineering and related concepts and expects students to implore into their syllabus topics and go beyond them. It also aims to allow students to grow through cross-functional activities and networking with companies.

Curriculum:

The ME department aims at providing an industry-centric curriculum and provides a blend of classroom and experiential learning. They include lab exercises, assignments, case studies, and work-integrated activities.

Admission:

  • Matriculation with-60% marks, 10+2 with 70% aggregate & minimum 60% marks in PCM, Computer Science/PCB for Biotechnology without a gap between 10th and 12th is the prerequisite for admission.

Yes, you can get internship opportunities with a CGPA of 6.9. In the past students of IIT Bhubaneswar got internships even with 6 CGPA. Companies that hire for internships usually sets the CGPA criteria to 6 or above. Other than CGPA, your skill sets will play a major role in getting an internship. So, focus on mastering different skills required by the MNCs.

The placement of IIT Bhubaneswar has never disappointed its students. There has always been an increase in the number of companies who visited IIT Bhubaneswar over years for hiring mechanical engineers. In 2017 almost 83% of students got placement from Mechanical Engineering. 32 out of 35 of Mechanical Engineering students got placed on campus with a decent package. The average package offered at IIT Bhubaneswar in 2017 was 10.52 lacs/annum. While the highest foreign CTC and highest domestic CTC offered were 38 LPA and 21 LPA respectively. PSU’s like ISRO, IOCL, BPCL, NCCBM participated in the campus drive. A total of 41 companies visited the campus during the placement season 2017.

Which institute is better for Mechanical Engineering, NIT Durgapur or IIEST Shibpur?

If you are confused between NIT Durgapur and IIEST Shibpur, I will advise you to give priority to the branch of your choice and if you are getting both these institutes, then go through the following points before deciding

  • Campus life: NIT Durgapur has an amazing crowd and you will be surrounded by intellectuals who will help groom your personality. The institute spreads across 187 acres of greenish and clean campus.
  • Club culture: NIT Durgapur helps you find your passion through the large variety of clubs. You can pursue all kinds of non-academic passions here from dancing, acting, painting, debating, etc. NIT Durgapur has a total of 19 clubs promoting such activities. 
  • Coding Culture: NIT Durgapur has a great coding culture and has a separate club that promotes a competitive coding culture in the college.

Both IITD Mechanical as well as IIT BHU CSE are good branches.
IIT BHU is 100 Years old Institution and offers a huge Alumni Network. The course curriculum of CSE is designed in a way that will give you enough Industry exposure. Coding Culture at IIT BHU is also very impressive with 10-12 GSOC Selections every year. The Department Club of Programmers (COPS) conducts Codefest which is the annual Department Fest which witnesses the participation of students and programmers worldwide. Moreover, besides Technical things at IIT BHU you can build up other skills since there are many clubs for Extracurriculars like Aeromodelling Club, Robotics Club, Business Club, Cultural Societies, Film & Media Council, etc. Apart from this, the Life at IIT BHU campus and city life of Varanasi is amazing. The average placement package at this IIT is nearly around 8.19 Lakhs while the Highest was 1.54 Crore in 2019. All the top companies including top tech giants Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon offer jobs as well as other sectors where students get jobs are Consulting, Analytics, Education, Business, etc.

IIT Roorkee Mechanical will be better. It has an excellent placement record. IIT Roorkee Mechanical average package is INR 15 LPA. Reputed companies like Google, Microsoft, and Maruti Suzuki recruit from the branch. You can also get good placement opportunities in the IT sector. 

IIT Roorkee has various clubs such as Web development Club, Programming Club, Robotics, etc. If you are interested, you can join any of these clubs and build additional skills.

Which is better, IIT Mechanical Engineering or IIT Bhubaneswar Electrical?

IIT Bhubaneswar witnessed 90% placement in 2019 at the end of the academic session. Around 89 companies visited the campus with the average salary offered was 11.45 LPA.

The placements of electrical and mechanical engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar were 86% and 83% respectively. The top recruiting companies that visited IIT Bhubaneswar in 2019 were Capgemini, DELL, Honeywell, L&T construction, TATA Steel, etc.

In general, Mechanical engineering (ME) is a more versatile course than other engineering courses. Mechanical Engineers are hired in corporate managerial positions. On the other hand, Electrical engineering (EE) can deflect their career towards software development and programming.

Both of these branches are excellent choices to opt from IIT Bhubaneswar where the placements record is quite good. So, pick the course you are interested in.

If you don’t have any particular inclination toward Mechanical Engineering, then Civil Engineering from IIT Guwahati will be the better choice. It is an old IIT and offers good infrastructure, faculty, and a well-developed alumni base. 

According to the statistics of recent years, IIT Guwahati Civil Engineering placement statistics are pretty good. Around 80% of the students get placed each year and the average CTC offered to the students of this branch is INR 17.5 LPA.

In the 2017-18 placement season, a total of 83% of students were placed from the Mechanical engineering department. From the core industries, the highest number of jobs were offered like other years. The average job package offered at IIT Bhubaneswar in the 2017-2018 placement drive is 10 lacs/annum. While the highest domestic CTC offered was 21 LPA and the highest foreign CTC offered went up to 38 LPA. In 2017-18 the number of jobs offered increased compared to 2017. A total of 41 companies visited campus during the placement drive. Top recruiters included PSU’s like ISRO, IOCL, BPCL, NCCBM. Mechanical has always been one of the best department in IIT Bhubaneswar because of the great faculties they have from all around the world.
