Choosing neither of those choices would be outright foolishness. You would be foolish if you waste the chance of getting a seat here. 

BITS Goa and top NITs, both have their merits. Speaking from a friend’s experience with BITS Pilani Goa campus has great opportunities for CSE and for the overall development of students as well.

You can talk to someone from NITs about how things are there to get an idea, and then make a choice. Both institutions produce good engineers, so irrespective of what you choose, it will help you if you use the opportunity and facilities offered properly.

BITS Goa is one of the most reputed technical institutes located in South Goa. The academic structure at the institute is directly governed by the parent institute BITS Pilani. Admissions in the institution are purely done on the basis of merit scored by the candidates in the entrance test called BITSAT.

ICT Mumbai received a grade A++ accreditation from NAAC. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. to students in various specializations. Admission in UG courses is based on the students’ rank in JEE Mains/MAH CET examinations whereas admission in postgraduate courses is based upon the marks obtained by the student GATE/GPAT examination.

The course fees per annum for the popular courses at the two institutes are as follows.

Faculty:

• All faculty members at BITS Goa are Ph.D. holders. The teachers are also very helpful. The course curriculum is relevant and teachers guide students for the placement process.

• The faculty at ICT Mumbai is well qualified and have a good knowledge regarding the subjects. All the faculty members hold PhDs and masters in their respective subjects and the curriculum is regularly updated based on the requirements of the industries and new generation technologies.

Placement:

BITS Goa-

It is often known for its record placements of a hundred percent every year since its origin. In 2019 Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Wipro, Infosys, Genpact, etc provided the highest package of INR 35 lacs and an average package of 11.4 lacs.

ICT Mumbai-

• It provides a 90% placement percentage.

• The highest package offered by the institute was INR 18 lakhs whereas the average package was INR 5 lacs.

• Bharat petroleum corporation limited, Johnson and Johnson, Jacobs, ITC, Pidilite industries, etc were some of the top recruiters of the college.

The details discussed above will assist you in making a wise decision about which college you must opt to. However, the requirements must be filled like the fee and eligibility to ensure your chances of getting admitted.

CSE at IIIT Allahabad wins hands down when the choice is between IIIT-A and BITS Goa. Both institutes have the same coursework for CSE, but IIIT-A offers it for one-third the fee of BITS Goa. Most of the students opt for BITS just for the brand name. The faculty at the BITS campus is not as good as that of IIIT Allahabad as it is funded by MHRD while BITS is a private institute. 

IIIT-A is popular for its coding culture. IT is one of the flagship courses offered there and placement records are at their best. Placement in the software domain is any day better at IIITs when compared to BITS.

IIIT Allahabad is the best choice among the two with good placement records, perfect campus, amazing faculties, and facilities. Being a government-affiliated institute has its own merits when compared to BITS Pilani Goa.

Birla Institute of Technology and Science(BITS),Goa, has been ranked 17 among the top engineering colleges in India by NIRF. It is a relatively new college. On the other hand, PES University (People’s Education Society University),Bangalore, established in 1972, is ranked 93 among top engineering colleges in NIRF 2019 Rankings.

International Accreditations:

• BITS Goa has their own committee known as International Programs and Collaboration Division(IPDC) which organizes various events and seminars in collaboration with various international institutes like Trinity College, Dublin, Michigan State University and many others.
• PES University attained the International IET-UK accreditation for its eight B.Tech and M. Tech programmes. They have matched the International Quality Benchmark.

• The placement rate in BITS Goa is about 90%.
• The highest package received by the students was 14.5 LPA
• The average package was around 6.15 LPA.
• Some of the top recruiters include Tech Mahindra, HP, Polaris, Bosch, Federal Bank, Oracle, Microsoft etc.

PES University

• The placement rate was recorded at around 90% with a total of 851 companies visiting the college.

• The maximum Package offered in Kongu Engineering College is 50 LPA and an average package of 5.5 LPA.
• Some of the companies that visited the college are Amazon, Cleartrip, Flipkart, JP Morgan, LinkedIn, Intel, Mahindra Rise, Mercedes Benz, and Deloitte.

BITS has a stellar reputation amongst the top engineering colleges in the country. Though students must analyse all factors keenly before choosing a given course in a particular college.

If you are financially stable, then you should prefer BTS Goa. NIT C has gotten worse in the following years. 

In NIT C, the students of some branches are getting back and the percentage of those back students are almost 50%. The environment of NIT C is hard to sustain and after being a Govt. Deemed University the faculty and students do whatever they feel like. Like one of the professors was given a warning after he was found guilty because of sexual harassment. 

NIT is known nationwide for the quality of students. It's not the Institute that makes a good student, it's rather the students that make an Institute good. The same is the case with NITs. If you want to join NIT, choose NIT Surathkal.

So, BITS is also a better option as compared to NIT Calicut which is as prestigious as IITs. One of the locations of BITS is Goa, which is indeed a dream destination for engineers. You will enjoy studying there. 

NIT Calicut has the cons mentioned above but not all the faculties are the same. Some of them are highly educated and decent.

It depends on how passionate you are in either of the fields. If your interest lies in Chemical engineering, you cannot go wrong with BITS Goa. Being ranked 30th for engineering in India by NIRF 2020. BITS offers a BE degree in Chemical engineering and has a faculty-student ratio of 1:15 with highly qualified and experienced professors.

If you are inclined towards Computer science, PES University must be your priority. Ranked 93 for engineering by NIRF in 2020, PES offers a B.Tech degree in CSE as its flagship course. It has well-experienced and qualified facilities withholding 76 on-campus teaching staff and several visiting professors from National Institutes.

• BITS Goa conducts an entrance exam namely BITSAT for admission in BE.
• For admission in the Chemical engineering branch, 254 was the closing score in BITSAT 2019.

• Besides accepting K-CET and JEE main test scores, PES University conducts its own entrance exam- PESSAT for B.tech admission.
• KCET rank under 450 andwas considered as a cutoff for B.tech CSE admission in the first round previous year.
• A rank under 600 in PESSAT can also fetch a seat in the CSE branch at PESU.

BITS Goa:

• Overall 160+ companies worldwide participate in the recruitment process every year. Top recruiters include Amazon, IBM, TCS, Maruti Suzuki, Accenture.
• Placement rate is around 50-60% with 30 students being placed this year with an average CTC of 7.5LPA
• Core companies visiting the campus are very few which includes Schlumberger, Cairn, Exxonmobil, UOP Honeywell, Shell.
• Highest CTC offered to date for the CE branch is 15LPA.

PES University:

• 100+ companies participated in the campus recruitment process in 2020.
• 11 students were placed from the CSE branch in Microsoft this year, with an average CTC of 39.2 LPA.
• Top recruiters in recent years include Accenture, Amazon, Bosch, HCL, HP.
• 851 students were placed in campus recruitment this year with an average CTC of 7LPA.
• The highest domestic CTC offered in 2020 for a CSE student is 48LPA by Atlassian.

Both BITS and PESU are prestigious Institutes in India that offer quality education. The deciding factor here is the field in which you dream to build your career. It is to be mentioned that opportunity is quite less for Chemical engineering students when compared to CSE at BITS or anywhere in India in general. But if you are passionate about the subject you should go for it.

Having known some people studying in both these institutes, I can say that BITS Goa and NIT Trichy both are excellent institutes when it comes to any branch. But if money is not one of your major problems, you can easily opt for CSE at BITS Goa.

• NIT Trichy is recognized and known as the best NIT overall. 
• BITS Goa is higher than most of the NIT’s and IIT’s. 
• The only drawback of BITS Goa is that the fees are a lot.
• For the CSE branch, I would definitely recommend BITS Goa. 
• BITS Goa would be the better option available as it is famous for its CSE department and also because of lots of events and activities it conducts. 
• In BITS Goa you can join the various events conducted and explore your skills and study at the same time. 
• In NIT Trichy academics is given more importance. 

BITS Goa would bring the perfect balance between things and at last you will still come out with a hefty package.
