Is Amity University the best for aerospace engineering?

TC
Tanushree Chakraborty Posted On : May 7th, 2021
M.Tech Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering & Composite Materials, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (2019)

One of my friends studied aerospace engineering at Amity University, so let me share his experiences about the college and also the true facts about Amity University.

Amity University offers two programs in Aerospace - BTech in Aerospace Engineering and a Dual degree program ( Integrated BTech + MTech).

  • There are very few experienced faculty members in both of these departments. They are not very active and supportive.
  • The course curriculum is well designed, however, the teaching methodology is not very impressive.
  • The department is very strict about the attendance of students. The students need to maintain a minimum of 75% attendance. The department debarred the students who fail to attain 75% attendance in any subject.
  • The aerospace department is separated from the Amity School of Engineering and technology and thus the students miss out on most of the events and programs.
  • The student crowd is huge at Amity. There are various spots of the student crowd such as Domino, CCD, Small market, Salons, etc. huge events are being organized for students.

Aerospace Engineering at Amity

Course Fee

9.20 lakh

Placement Percentage

30-40%

Highest CTC

10-13 LPA

Average CTC

4-5 LPA

Recruiting Companies

Rockwell, Wipro, Indigo, Spice JET, Tech Mahindra, etc.

The campus placement is not good in the aerospace department. Either you will be selected in Defence or any IT company. There are no internship opportunities available. You will hardly get a package ranging from INR 4-5 LPA. The course fee is also high in respect to the placement given. The course curriculum is mainly theoretical and very less practical.

You should try for another better college for doing Aerospace rather than in Amity.

Can I apply for two programs in IGNOU simultaneously?

HC
Harsh Chandra Posted On : October 20th, 2022
MBA in Management, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

According to the UGC, no universities have been approved to allow students to pursue dual degrees or master's degrees at the same time. Even if you register for one degree at IGNOU and another at another distant or regular university, it will not be valid because UGC does not endorse that. You cannot display both certificates at the same time.

As a result, it is always preferable to complete a B.Com before pursuing an MBA. B.Com in addition to BBA is a challenge. After completing your B.Com, you can enroll in IGNOU's MBA program.

What are the pros and cons of studying in IIT Bombay?

SB
Sumit Bose Posted On : March 20th, 2023
IIT Bombay (2019)

IIT Bombay is the dream college of many Engineering aspirants. Some major pros and cons of IIT Bombay are mentioned below:

Pros

  • IIT Bombay is the elite Engineering college in India with almost 75% of 100 rankers targeting this institute.
  • IIT Bombay offers a variety of courses in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry
  • It provides holistic development of students.
  • The MNCs that visit during placements offer high packages that are quite appealing.
  • Some of the top branches include CSE, Chemical, Civil and Mechanical. The faculty of all these branches are extremely learned. CSE students are busy with projects and usually get recruited by top IT companies while chemical engineering promotes research.

Cons

  • IIT Bombay is not a university providing courses in other fields such as arts, dance, painting, or the law.
  • Most of the courses focus on application only. For instance, even math is not pure but applied
  • The quality of education is gradually deteriorating over the past few years despite all efforts to save it from the fall
  • Most top students prefer to go for jobs rather than become researchers

The cons are not major enough to overshadow the pros yet and the Institute is expected to remain among the top for a few more years.

Is NMIMS BBA worth paying 2.5 lakhs per annum?

AJ
Arshit Jain Posted On : March 9th, 2023
Studied at the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF)

If you are an average or above-average student, seeking an enjoyable college life, wanting to avoid spending a fortune, and do not need great company placements, then joining NMIMS may not be the best option for you. NMIMS is known to have strict policies and can remove students from college at any time without mercy, which can negatively impact your mental and physical well-being, finances, and career. Additionally, there is no academic or exam coordination between their colleges, and if you are not in NMIMS Mumbai, you may face difficulty in exams, as the topics may not have been covered or the evaluation may be too strict. Even past students who opted for re-evaluation later failed.

The placements are not commensurate with their reputation or the fees charged. The topics covered in BBA are of MCom level, which can be challenging for science students. Therefore, if you seek peace, cost-effective education, and wish to avoid loss of years, you may want to consider other institutes like Christ University, which provides better value for money. NMIMS BBA may not be suitable for middle-class students, science students, above-average students, or students aspiring for MBA entrance.

How was your IIT Kharagpur PGDBA interview experience?

AR
Aditi Roy Posted On : March 30th, 2023
lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India

One of my friends had the absolute delight to appear for the PGDBA interview conducted by a multifaceted panel. He shared his interview experience which might help you a bit.

Before the interview began, he was taken for a Verification Round wherein, every detail of academics scores or other profile-related information was cross-checked on the IIMs format. Once they received an IIM-verified document they were escorted to the interview venue.

The interview room had 3 panels; one from each institute obviously.

They asked for his brief introduction first. On hearing about his interest in Data Analytics, panelists probed him further with questions like

  • What is Data Analytics
  • Difference between analytics and analysis
  • Contemporary Data analytics and ML

They further asked him why he chose Analytics. He told them that the increasing demand for the same in Europe and China made him realize how much India lacks in this aspect and thus he wanted to invest his efforts in Data Analytics.

Next, he was tested on his knowledge of Statistics and Mathematics with questions like

  • Difference between mean, mode, Media
  • Skewness
  • Relationship of mean, mode, and median in a positive Skew graph
  • Hypothesis Testing
  • What is Anova

The next panelist took the reins and gave him a problem from SPC quality control. He asked him how do you know that his process in electric bulb making is as per customer Norma and is statistically controlled. My friend was able to answer most of the questions confidently and even solved this problem through charts.

Lastly, he was asked about his extracurricular activities and hobbies. The discussion ended with him asking about GST and the difference between GST and previous tax. Even though he gave a common answer, he managed to convert the interview.

Which is better: IIM K or NITIE?

PD
Pavitra Das Posted On : August 20th, 2021
PGDIM Industrial Management, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (2018)

Both IIM K and NITIE are renowned institutes and offer the same placement opportunities.

  • If you take a look from an ROI point of view then NITIE has an upper hand. The fee structure at NITIE is 12.53 lakhs and is half or less than that from IIM K.
  • NITIE is known for its Operations branch. The majority of SCM Head, VP Operations, Head logistics in industries are a part of the alumni of NITIE.
  • If you are not interested in Operations then opt for IIM K. It has been ranked above NITIE and if the IIM tag is what that you desire the go for it.

Your decision may be influenced by the distance of these institutions from your hometown, financial background, preference for a particular specialization, and many such factors. Since it is an important decision do not hastily jump to conclusions. Make a wise choice that would benefit you in the future.

How is MAIT Delhi?

NG
Naman Gupta Posted On : May 17th, 2021
Studied at Maharaja Agrasen Institute Of Technology

The college is situated near my home and I have often interacted with the students. The following points are clearly based on my experience with students:

  • Location: The nearest metro station is at Rithala from Rohini PSP, around 7 km away. You can go to Rithala if you wish to go to Metro Walk or City Centre Mall, etc.
  • Societies: There aren’t that many active societies in the college, just the one called Ayaam which is the dramatics and funk in motion dance society. A lot of mechanical students prefer to take part in Jatayu but this is only available for students from 3rd year onwards. Apart from this, you will mostly be attending lectures non-stop.
  • Sports: There is an indoor badminton court and a fitness centre that only hostellers can use. Most other sports are non-existent except the volleyball team. There is just a namesake sports week that takes place in the winter.
  • Fest: MAIT’s fest has definitely improved over the past few years and these are the only 2-3 days of college you will enjoy the most. They do not attract big celebrities, but it is a start.
  • Professors: You will find professors from both extremes, some ready to impart knowledge to students whereas others who won’t care.
  • Crowd: The crowd is here is definitely better than that at IPU. The college canteen is also decent but food outside the campus is definitely better.
  • Life: Your workload is not going to reduce in college, so if you are looking for respite, you won’t find it. There will be lab work, assignments and project files to submit. Moreover, IPU’s curriculum is easy to crack and has remained stagnant over the years. You will not find much growth here. NSIT, DTU, and IIIT are much better in this matter.

If you are looking for college life, go to NSIT and DTU because life can get boring at MAIT. You will need to find friends who are willing to be there for you for your four years at MAIT otherwise it could get very boring.
