How is life at IPM in IIM Indore?

AT
Ayush Tiwari Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (2019)

Life at IPM in IIM Indore is quite hectic. The course curriculum of IPM comprises a large number of diverse subjects which keeps the students busy. The earliest slot for the IPM classes start at 9 am and the last slot for the classes end at 7 pm, and mostly all the slots won’t be filled in a day. The sprawling campus offers amazing scenic views.

A lot of students spend their evenings taking part in the sports facilities available on the campus. IIM Indore has great sports infrastructure for games like basketball, volleyball, squash, table tennis, cricket, football. There are also options for indoor games like snooker, carom. The campus also has a gym and swimming pool. Every Saturday a new movie is screened in the auditorium.

Students also take part in various activities conducted by the Students Activity council and the fests. The student’s activity council consists of Committees like the Academic Affairs Committee, Infrastructure Committee, Student Exchange Committee, etc. The institute has various clubs such as the Social Club, Activity Club, and Entrepreneurship Club. Also, there is a music club, dance club, gaming club, drama club, and so on in which students can take part.

The department organizes two of the biggest fests of IIM Indore, Atharv, a management and cultural fest, and Ranbhoomi, a sports fest. Students learn important life skills like leadership, handling diversity, teamwork, and more by participating in such activities.

Students can participate in a social internship at the end of the 2nd year. There is also an opportunity to participate in the student exchange programme at the end of the third year of the program.

Why is IPM at IIM Indore good?

TD
Tina Dutt Posted On : January 9th, 2023
8+ years of Experience in Mentoring for IPM

IIM Indore, which was founded in 1996 and is one of the top six elite IIMs, launched the Integrated Program in Management (IPM) in 2011. The course is divided into three years of UG and two years of PG and is designed to provide a holistic and pragmatic education.

The IPM was created to diversify the student population in Post-Graduation Program (PGP) classes. The first three years of the program assisted students in developing a stronger foundation of management discipline, which helped them perform better in their MBA. The foundation course focuses on the IPM's "four pillars": statistics, economics, mathematics, and social sciences. There are also humanities, literature, and skill-building courses available, as well as the option to study a foreign language.

The IPM also offers a set of subjects known as bridge courses. They include courses in information technology, intellectual property rights, and corporate law basics. IPM students also participate in a two-month social internship within a core social domain, such as a nonprofit, social organization, or a company's CSR wings. IPM students graduate with a Bachelor of Arts (Foundations of Management) and an MBA after five years.

Academics believe that integrated courses shape students' personalities as holistic and hardworking individuals because they are taken at an age when they are entering adulthood.

What is your opinion about IIM Indore's IPM programme?

JJ
Jason Jose Posted On : January 24th, 2023
Works at the Indian Institute of Management in Indore

Even though there have been many hyped and legitimate reasons to be skeptical, it is one of India's top undergraduate programs. Of course, an older IIT with a strong B Tech stream beats it, but that's it.

Your innocence and curiosity are killed by the Indian graduation system in class XII. IPM promotes and safeguards it. You are given the opportunity to ask questions, learn about different topics, and experiment with them so that you will be well-versed in all of their facets. Clearly, the PGP level is where thought consolidation takes place.

Students are incredibly intelligent, curious, daring, and innocent. Life teaches much more than any classroom ever could by living away from home and overcoming obstacles on your own. Because of this, the 200-acre campus' amazing and world-class facilities contribute to the overall experience and process of growing up.

How can I prepare for IIM Indore or IIM Rohtak IPM exams? I am currently in class 11 with commerce stream and ISC board (and not showing off I got 93 avg. in English class 10 ICSE board)?

It is great that you are thinking of pursuing IPM being in class 11. You have enough time. You can think of starting with Pearson’s IPM entrance guide. Figure out if you can solve the questions or not. If required, join online coaching classes like CareerAnna.

  • Develop the habit of reading. Start with novels that you might like in your preferred genre and move on to articles from the Indian Express or The Hindu.
  • Expand your knowledge and vocabulary.
  • Attempt one mock at least per month and one every week after your 12th grade. Analyze your mistakes and work on them.
  • Practice writing essays for WAT. You might be asked to write on random topics so ensure that you can write creatively within 20 minutes.
  • You can look at the previous topics asked in the examination which might help you.
  • In the interview round, prepare for current affairs and things you did in your 12th grade. GK and current affairs are essential for your preparation.
  • You can revise your academics, general HR questions and talk about your hobbies a week or two before your interview.
  • Ensure that your hobby stands out. Be thorough about it.
  • You need to set yourself apart from others for the college to see what is the unique thing that you can bring to the table.

Finally, be consistent in your work and start building your resume right away. Back your hobby with certificates, participate in competitions, and any other significant achievements you may have made along the way. Volunteer at a local NGO since social work is highly appreciated on your CV.

Is Integrated programme of management of IIM Bodh Gaya worth it?

MB
Mrinmoyee Das Biswas Posted On : January 21st, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya (Graduated 2022)

Whether a course is suitable for a person depends solely on what he wants from the course and his priorities. You cannot generalize a course's value. Yet, in my opinion, it’s a course worth doing for everyone. Some points that speak in favor of this program are

  • Unlike the general misconception of IPM being lower in terms of degree, the IPM program at IIM Bodh Gaya offers dual degrees to its students (B.A (Foundations in Management) and a normal MBA).
  • Despite being a new IIM, it has carried the legacy of IIM and has proven its worth through its fast-paced growth and 100% placement percentage.
  • IIM Bodh Gaya maintains strong international relations with world-class educational institutes like SolBridge International School of Business in South Korea and Montpellier Business School in France through its elite student exchange program
  • Its location is one of the reasons many students choose it over other new IIMs. It’s located just 7 km away from the Gaya airport at a Buddhist tourist spot.

So IIM Bodh Gaya in general and its IPM program especially is worth taking.

Is 1160 a good score in the SAT to get a call from the IIM Ranchi IPM program?

RS
Radhika Srivastava Posted On : January 19th, 2023
IIM Ranchi

People with scores of 1500 or higher often aim for the IIM Ranchi IPM program. With a score of 1160, you may not be in a strong position to get a call from IIM Ranchi, but if you have strong extracurricular activities and good academic performance in the past (e.g. in 10th and 12th grade), you may still have a chance.

If you do not receive a call from IIM Ranchi, you can still try for the IIM Indore IPM-AT program. You must keep in mind that IIM Ranchi may also consider applicants for the IIM Indore IPM-AT program. It's worth giving it your best effort.

Do I have to take the SAT for the IPM course provided by IIM or only for IIM Ranchi?

YV
Yashluv Virwani Posted On : January 19th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Ranchi (Graduated 2018)

IIM Ranchi has not disclosed a specific cutoff score for the SAT for admission to their Integrated Program in Management (IPM) program. However, according to an interview with the IIM Ranchi IPM admission panel, students who score highly on the SAT may be invited to participate in a personal interview.

It is worth noting that this information is based on assumptions and research, and a score of 1400+ on the SAT may be considered a safe bet for admission consideration. However, it is also possible that a score of 1350+ could be sufficient if luck is on your side.

Which would be better? NMIMS Mumbai BBA or IIM Rohtak IPM (exit after 3rd year with a BBA degree)?

AM
Apoorva Murjani Posted On : January 18th, 2023
IIM Rohtak

IIM Rohtak is better if you want to join IPM there and graduate with a BBA after three years.

A BBA from IIM Rohtak is unquestionably more valuable than a BBA from NMIMS, Mumbai because the course curriculum and pedagogy are superior at IIMs, which use a trimester system rather than the traditional semester system used at NMIMS.

The placements will be similar between the two. However, NMIMS wins because, with only a BBA, you'd have to apply off-campus if you wanted to be placed at IIM Rohtak, as there are no placements for BBA students.

Keeping everything in mind, you should prioritize IIM Rohtak over NMIMS because of the IIM brand and because it is a less expensive option. At the end of the day, you still have the option of pursuing an MBA at IIM Rohtak, which you do not have at NMIMS, and CAT can be quite unpredictable and difficult.
