How is the Life of a MBBS student at MAMC Delhi?

RM
Ridham Mishra Posted On : October 5th, 2023
MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College (2020)

MAMC Delhi is one of the most prestigious medical colleges of India and offers an excellent campus life to its MBBS students. Although the authorities will claim its a rigging free college, the reality is you will have to entertain the seniors to a certain extent. There have been instances when juniors have been asked to dance and sing for their seniors. Some might be banned from the library for being a nerd. However, never let your guard down, and always maintain your dignity.

The food is very cheap and tasty. The Nescafe Point serves a variety of snacks and coffees and many other delicacies can be bought from the Departmental Canteen. The college has no caste-based discrimination and there is excellent harmony between the peers. You won't face any major language issues here irrespective of whichever part of India you hail from.

The schedule isn't very hectic and students are given a 15-day break for Christmas and New Year. There are enough holidays to plan trips or visit home occasionally.

Is it worth leaving KGMU seat for AMU seat of an MBBS taking in consideration the UP bond and internal PG reservation?

SS
Savi Sharma Posted On : September 25th, 2023

You are right in considering the UP bond and internal PG reservation while making your choice.

  • Internal Reservation- JNMC offers 50% internal PG quota, which is completely free of caste based reservation. This is beneficial if you plan to pursue PG after your graduation. Also, you’ll have better chances of getting clinical seats here at around 23k AIR.
  • Rural Bond- Unlike KGMU, JNMC doesn’t come under the two year rural bond. This is a big relief in itself.
  • Location- Location wise though, Lucknow is far more developed than Aligarh.

You may choose JNMC (AMU) over any of these top colleges of UP- KGMU, RMLIMS, GSVM, MLN and LLRM. The reason being, as already mentioned by you.

What is the performance of students in NEET PG after the MBBS course in KMC, Manipal?

RT
Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : September 30th, 2023

NEET PG is like any other entrance exam. So the UG college doesn’t really matter when giving your PG entrance.

But it is true that your clinical postings have a bearing on the things you remember when reading your preparation material. Your exposure to clinical signs, diagnosis, radiological findings, and surgical procedures makes you remember things. A dedicated faculty, motivated peers, and hardworking seniors will have a huge impact on you. Good seniors offer tips and tricks on cracking entrance exams.

Coming to KMC Manipal, it is a premiere institute. It is at par with most government medical colleges. The alumni of this college can vouch for its good academics and campus life.

You’ll have to prepare for your PG with efficiency and diligence. Your UG college won’t have much of a role in this regard. KMC Manipal is a good choice for an MBBS, and it will offer you all the facilities and exposure.

Can I do MBBS and BA from IGNOU at the same time ?

SR
Simpal Rai Posted On : February 27th, 2023
BA from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) (Graduated 2020)

Yes, UGC has given its approval regarding pursuing two courses at the same time, only provided that one cannot pursue both these courses in regular mode. This basically means that for both courses to be considered valid,, one course has to be in regular mode and the other course must be in distance mode from Open University.

UGC rules are applicable in the case of IGNOU also. Earlier before UGC made such changes, IGNOU did not allow two regular courses simultaneously through the same University. But in accordance with recent regulations, you can do two regular as well as two distance courses at the same time.

Where should I go for pursuing MBBS PGIMS, Rohtak or NDMC Delhi (Hindu Rao Hospital) ?

Sapna Malik updated Posted On : October 3rd, 2023

Go for PGIMS Rohtak and dont even think twice. PGIMS Rohtak is one of the oldest and most reputed colleges in North India. It has some of the most learned and experienced faculty members many of whom are best-selling authors of medical textbooks.

NDMC is just an ordinary medical college not anywhere near the standards of PGIMS Rohtak. It's associated with the Hindurao Hospital which is quite well known in Delhi. However, the medical faculty and the standard of medical training are rumored to be substandard. Moreover, the MCI has canceled the Recognition of NDMC quite a few times already. So, I will not suggest you take the risk of joining this college just because it's located in Delhi.

Choose PGIMS Rohtak to stay on the safe side.

Why does everyone prefer to do an MBBS at Seth GS rather than GMC Mumbai?

AG
Akriti Gupta Posted On : October 4th, 2023
lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

The sole reason many medical aspirants choose Seth GS for MBBS over GMC Mumbai is the quality of education it offers which places it somewhat higher than GMC.

Grant Medical College is indeed a well-known medical college but not yet at par with KEM at least in terms of academics. KEM welcomes the best student crowd and churns out many great doctors.

Seth GS on the other hand is at the same level as the top medical colleges of India, AIIMS and JIPMER in terms of academics. However, it’s yet to match its level of infrastructure, clinical exposure, and research opportunities.

Grant is known to have very old infrastructure, with issues related to internal politics and corruption. However, most ranking magazines place GMC over Seth GS thereby misleading many.

So always consider all the aspects before choosing your college.
