The notice issued by the WBCHSE said, "As directed, the council is pleased to publish the criteria of minimum percentage of marks in a subject, a student must obtain in Madhyamik Examination or its equivalent examination, in order to be eligible for taking up certain Science-based elective subjects.”

Those who choose to pursue mathematics, statistics, or computer science as elective subjects must acquire a minimum of 35% in mathematics; similarly, the cut-off for biological science is 35% in life science.

Students who wish to enrol in Class 11 with physics, chemistry, or both as elective subjects must have at least 35 % marks in physical science in their Class 10 board examinations.

According to WBCHSE President Chiranjib Bhattacharya, the cut-off percentage mark was raised to 45% in 2021 since the Class 10 board exams could not be held due to COVID-19, and almost all were expected to achieve the requirement due to high marks in the previous year.

In another announcement, the council raised the maximum number of seats in each higher secondary school from 275 to 400. On June 3, the results of the Class 10 state board examinations were released, and over 86% of the 10.98 lakh students were declared successful. The exam has been passed by more female applicants than male ones.
