WBCHSE Corrects Error with the Question from WBHS 2023 Exam

New Delhi: West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, or WBCHSE has clarified an inaccuracy in the Bengali language section of West Bengal HS Exam 2023.

The question's inaccuracy had caused indignation among students, teachers, and education professionals. The West Bengal Board, WBCHSE clarified the question in response to the criticism.

The debate began when a question in the Bengali test instructed students to write an essay about Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose that also mentioned his passing the ICS Exam.

The fact that the question said IAS Test Clearance rather than ICS outraged students, parents, and teachers. Throughout British Rule, the IAS test was known as the ICS Exam, or Indian Civil Servants Exam, to the uninitiated.

According to the latest reports, WBCHSE President Chiranjib Bhattacharya has said that the error was made during the proofreading of the exam questions and was not done on purpose.

The paper-setter had initially mentioned ICS in the paper, but the proofreaders unintentionally changed it to IAS. They didn't do it on purpose. Many were unaware that IAS was referred to as ICS in India under British control, Bhattacharya reported.

According to educational experts, this blunder shouldn't have happened and is a "severe breach on the side of the authorities."

Meanwhile, the West Bengal 12th Examinations in 2023 began on March 14th, 2023, while the final examination will take place on March 27, 2023. The latest reports reveal that this year, a total of 8.5 lakh students have enrolled for the West Bengal Class 12th Examinations.
