Vice President Venkaiah Naidu Urges States to Implement NEP 2020


New Delhi: The Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu has appealed to all state governments for implementation of the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 on Friday, March 11, 2022. 

Naidu urged all states to implement this policy with missionary zeal to transform the ecosystem of learning-teaching. NEP is a visionary document that aims at ushering in the much- needed reforms in the Education sector which can help in meeting the high demands of the 21st century, he added.

NEP 2020 gives special prominence to Primary, Pre-primary and Vocational education, improving the teaching quality, creativity in the use of technology along with flexibility and excellence in higher studies, said Vice president Naidu.

M V Naidu complimented the Government of Sikkim for its continuous efforts for NEP 2020 implementation and for also setting up the State Education reforms commission headed itself by the Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang.

He also hailed the Himalayan state for the achievement of having the highest GER (Gross Enrolment Ratio) at 75.8 percent in higher studies as per the data provided by the All India Survey of Higher Education. He expressed his hopes that Sikkim will soon become a ‘Hub of Education’ in the Northeast.

The Vice President also laid the foundation stone for the Kanchendzonga State University at Tarku from Samman Bhawan in the capital of Sikkim in virtual mode. This university will provide quality education and skills to students to find employment and it is another step in the direction of the NEP implementation, he added.

The vice president also interacted with a Group of students who were recently evacuated from the war-hit Ukraine. He took a keen interest in the well being of the students & also enquired about their academic-related issues. The students also shared their experiences with Naidu, Governor Ganga Prasad, State CM and other dignitaries at the Raj Bhawan.
