VCRC M.Sc Admission 2022 Open; Last Date to Apply is July 22

New Delhi: VCRC has begun the application process for M.Sc in Public Health Entomology for the academic year 2022-2023. Candidates can download the form through the official website vcrc.icmr.org.in 

VCRC offers the M.Sc PHE course for two academic years. By the end of this course, students will be able to: 

1. i) Describe the basics of arthropods of public health importance 
2. ii) Identify vector - host-pathogen relationships in arthropod-borne diseases 

iii) Conduct studies on the epidemiology of vector-borne diseases 

1. iv) Apply modern tools for surveillance and diagnosis of vector-borne diseases 
2. v) Design appropriate prevention and control measures including rationalization of the use of pesticides in Public health programmes 
3. vi) Promote Integrated Vector Management

VCRC M.Sc Admission 2022: Dates 

The VCRC Course will provide an opportunity for students to gain in-depth knowledge of Public Health Entomology and intense training on the modern approaches for epidemiology, prevention and control of vectors and vector-borne diseases.

All the candidates selected under Category I will be paid a scholarship of Rs. 20,000/- per month. The candidates selected under Category II will be paid a stipend of Rs. 10,000/- per month.

Eligibility Criteria for Category 1

Category I: Open Competition 

• Candidates seeking admission under this category should have passed any one of the following examinations of any University accepted by the Academic Council of Pondicherry University, Puducherry: B.Sc., in the discipline of Zoology / Botany / Life Sciences / Medical Laboratory Technology/ Microbiology / Ecology / Environmental Science / Biochemistry / Agriculture, or B.V.Sc., or M.B.B.S., or B.E., / B.Tech., degree with Biotechnology as one of the subjects. 
• Those who are appearing for the Under-Graduate final examinations / waiting for the results of the above courses can also apply. However, they need to produce evidence for the successful completion of the course fulfilling the eligibility criteria at the time of admission.

Eligibility Criteria for Category 2

Category II: In-service 

• Indian Nationals 
  • Government-employed In-service candidates either in the Central or State Health Department and candidates sponsored by the Public Health Sectors should have passed the Degree examination in any of the disciplines indicated under Category I from a recognized University accepted by the Academic Council of Pondicherry University, Puducherry. 
  • The candidates should send their application with a "No Objection Certificate”/ “Certificate of Sponsorship” from their Employer. 
• Foreign Nationals 
  • The applicants under this category possessing qualifications as mentioned under Category I or the qualification for which Equivalence Certificate obtained from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi are eligible to apply. They will be required to produce an Eligibility Certificate from Pondicherry University, Puducherry, subsequently for recognition of their qualification. 
  • Applications should be routed through the employer or sponsoring/nominating authority/organization. Applicants with a valid visa for the entire duration of the study, only, will be considered.

VCRC M.Sc Admission 2022: Selection Process

Candidates can check the selection process here: 

Category I: Selection of the candidates will be based on the performance in the Common Entrance Test [CET] for a two-hour duration held in Cities where the above ICMR Institutes are located. There will be no negative marking. A minimum /cut-off mark is 50% in the CET. 

Category IIA: Based on the qualification, experience and oral interview 

Category IIB: Based on a letter of recommendation/reference from the Head of Department/Institution, last studied, if the candidate is a student or the employer if in service.

The envelope containing the filled-in application form should be super-scribed as: "APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO M.Sc. PHE 2022" and sent by Registered / Speed Post to: 

The Director, ICMR-Vector Control Research Centre, 

Medical Complex, Indira Nagar, 

Puducherry 605 006. 

Applications from Indian Nationals should be accompanied by 

(i) a Demand Draft to the value of Rs.500/- (Rs.250/- in the case of SC/ST candidates) towards the application fee, drawn in favour of "The Director, ICMRVector Control Research Centre", payable at Puducherry. 

(ii) Foreign Nationals can pay the application fee at the time of their admission.
