Uttar Pradesh To Start Nine Nursing Colleges from July 19


New Delhi: Nine nursing schools are going to start in the UP state from July 15. Even 35 ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery) training centres will start operating in the month of August. The Chief Minister has instructed the officials to ensure strict standards of compliance in every institute.

In a bid to upgrade the health care infrastructure of the state, the Uttar Pradesh government is preparing an action plan for the re-operation of state government training institutes which have been closed for the last three decades in Uttar Pradesh. The aim is to provide better training facilities and infrastructure to the youth. 

The Chief Minister has directed top officials to work on infrastructure facilities for better training of ANMs and GNMs (General Nursing and Midwifery). He has also said that the standards should be strictly followed. 

“The faculty should be good enough to take full care of the training. Make sure arrangements are made for their training in the Medical College and District Hospital,” said the CM.

Reportedly, over 40 paramedical training centres of the health department in UP have been closed since 1989.

During the second phase of the Yogi government, special emphasis is being given to medical services, the government has increased the number of seats in nursing courses on behalf of the Medical Education Department.

UP is working to emerge as the biggest nursing hub once GNM training schools, ANM training centres, medical colleges and district hospitals become operational as training centres. Moreover, the government is working in line with the Central government's vision to have at least one medical college in each district.

UP Director General of Medical Education replied to an RTI query filed by a TOI reporter that over 56.4% of sanctioned posts of paramedical staff and technicians are lying vacant in 13 state medical colleges, five autonomous medical colleges, and four other medical institutes.
