UP Board Cancels Class 12 English Exam 2022 in 24 Districts due to Paper Leak


New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has officially cancelled the UP Board Class 12 English exam 2022 in the second shift in all the exam centers of 24 districts due to the paper leak. 

The UP Board Class 12 exam for English was scheduled to be held today, at 2 pm. However, due to the possibility of the question paper leak, the UPMSP decided to cancel the English exam which was to be held in the 2nd shift. 

According to the UPMSP notification, Considering the leak of question paper of Intermediate English subject series 316 E D and 316 E I, in second shift in Ballia district, the class 12th exam for English had to be cancelled in all examination centers of 24 districts due to the distribution of the above series in these districts. 

The UPMSP notification revealed that the English exam had to be cancelled in 24 districts including Ballia, Etah, Baghpat, Badaun, Sitapur, Kanpur Dehat, Lalitpur, Chitrakoot, Pratapgarh, Gonda, Azamgarh, Agra, Varanasi, Mainpuri, Mathura, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Shamli, Shahjahanpur, Unnao, Jalaun, Mahoba, Ambedkar Nagar, and Gorakhpur.

Apart from these 24 districts, the class 12 English board exam 2022, was conducted in the second shift in all other exam centres according to the class 12 schedule

The notification also said that the revised date for the English paper will be issued shortly.

According to the latest reports, the Special Task Force of the Uttar Pradesh Police has been allotted to look into the matter. 

Commenting on the matter, Uttar Pradesh minister in charge of secondary education Gulab Devi said that it appears that the English question paper of class 12 was leaked in Ballia district. As a result, the matter is being looked into and strict action will be taken against the guilty.

When questioned on why the English exam was cancelled in only 24 districts, Gulab Devi said that since the question paper was distributed only in 24 districts, the paper had to be cancelled. However, the English exam will be conducted in the remaining 51 districts of the state. 

Confirming the cancellation of the class 12 English exam in 24 districts in UP, Additional Chief Secretary (Secondary Education) Aradhana Shukla, said that the question paper was leaked before the commencement of the exam, so, the exam had to be cancelled and the matter is being looked into. 

Earlier, this week, the UP Board Class 10th and Class 12th board exams 2022 began on March 24, after a delay caused due to the UP by-elections. 

Surprisingly, on the very first day of the board exam, almost 4 lakh students skipped the exam. The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) conducted the UP Board Hindi paper for both Class 10, 12.

This is one of the highest number of examinees dropping out on the first day of the UP Board exam. According to the reports, out of the total 51.9 lakh students who registered for the exam, this year, nearly 4.18 lakh students were marked absent. Out of this, 2.6 lakh students were from Class 10 and 1.57 lakh students were from Class 12.

This year, a total of 24,11,035 students were to appear for the Class 12 exams, of which 10,86,835 are girls and 13,24,200 boys. In all, 51,92,689 students registered for the UP board exams 2022.
