New Delhi: The 2023 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject has named the University of Hyderabad (UoH) as one of the top universities in the world for the study of five subjects.
The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), global higher education analyst, released the rankings, where UoH was also named along with the top universities in the world for the study of 54 academic subjects. The UoH has performed best in Sociology and English Language & Literature, where it is ranked 5th in India and 301-340 overall.
According to a press statement, the University of Hyderabad is home to two of the top 400 subjects with 17th highest ranking in India. The findings reveal that the UoH scored 45.9 in life sciences, placing at first overall.
Further, the university was rated the best in Chemistry by QS in terms of citations per paper, which is a measure of the research of study, with a score of 75.3.
The institution received scores of 58.1 in Biological Sciences and 48.3 in Chemistry on the H-Index. It also assesses the productivity and impact of research. The rankings offer authoritative comparative analysis of the success of 15,703 distinct university programmes at 1,594 universities in 93 different countries across 54 academic disciplines and five major faculty areas.
