New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the National Tribal Research Institute in New Delhi today, June 07, 2022 during the celebration of the event "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav". The institute will aim to improve the socio-economic aspects of the tribal lifestyle.

As per the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Union Home Minister, the National Tribal Research Institute will become the nerve center of tribal concerns, issues, and matters related to academic, executive, legislative, and other fields.
Talking about the inauguration, the Union Tribal Affairs Ministry said, "NTRI will be a premier national-level institute and will become the nerve center of tribal concerns, issues, and matters in academic, executive, and legislative fields".
"It will collaborate and network with reputed research institutes, universities, organizations as well as academic bodies and resource centers" he further added. The institute will act as a premier national-level institute and will offer programs in various fields.
In addition to this, the NTRI will also join hands with various firms, reputed research institutes, universities, organizations, and academic bodies for academic and research collaborations in the future. Furthermore, it will work toward improving the research and training quality of TRIs.
The institute will be responsible for monitoring the projects and research work of Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs) of Centers of Excellence (COEs) as well as projects of research scholars of NFS. NTRI will set up norms and guidelines for research and training work in TRIs.
Informing about the activities of the National Tribal Research Institute, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs stated that the institute will also “provide policy inputs to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs as well as State Welfare Departments".
“NTRI will design studies and programs that improve or support socio-economic aspects of tribal lifestyles, create and maintain a database of PMAAGY, provide guidelines in setting and running Tribal Museums, and showcasing the rich tribal cultural heritage of India '' he added.
