UGC's New Guidelines Allows Candidates to Select Two Courses Simultaneously

New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released new guidelines addressing the courses for higher education, according to which, the students will have the option to enrol in and withdraw from multiple courses at all higher education institutions nationwide.

UGC's New Guidelines Allows Candidates to Select Two Courses Simultaneously

The new UGC guidelines permits the students to have the option to enter-exit multiple courses from all the HEIs including management, education, law, and engineering colleges, and then reapply for admission to the same course at their convenience.

This is a huge relief to the students who want to take several courses at once. Now, they can enrol in a course more than once.

The UGC has issued guidelines for studies involving multiple modes. These regulations are based on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which stated that the students would have the option to take multiple courses and that the certificates from each course would be accepted.

The respective institute will provide the students with suitable orientation and counselling.

As per the new UGC regulations, all state governments and academic institutions are directed to develop their own norms and procedures. The institutions will have to implement these guidelines from the new academic year 2022-23.

The UGC stated that the students will have options on where they want to take the course. They have the option to take online courses, participate in distance learning, or attend in-person, face-to-face classes during the semester.

Expressing his contentment, UGC President Prof. M Jagadesh Kumar stated that he's pleased to present the guidelines for conversion of higher education institutions into multi-disciplinary institutes.

The UGC guidelines are intended to assist the state's universities by transforming them into multidisciplinary institutions of higher learning, he said.
