New Delhi: As per the latest updates, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has further extended the last date to submit suggestions, feedback and comments to set up foreign university campuses till February 20, 2023.
As per UGC, stakeholders can share their comments and feedback with the commission at the official email address at ugcforeigncollaboration@gmail.com. Suggestions submitted after the given deadline will not be considered by the commission.
The official notice reads, "In view of the requests being received from the stakeholders to extend the last date for submitting comments/ suggestions/ feedback on the aforesaid draft regulations, the last date is hereby further extended to 20th February 2023".
According to the draft guidelines for Setting up and Operation of Campuses of Foreign Higher Educational Institutions in India Regulations, 2023, foreign universities are only permitted to offer full-time courses in offline mode.
Earlier, the last date to submit feedback and suggestions to UGC regarding setting up foreign university campuses in India was January 18, 2023. The date was further extended to February 03, 2023 and now it has been extended up to February 20, 2023.
Informing about the process, UGC Chairperson, M Jagadesh Kumar shared that to set up campuses of any foreign university in India, the authority will need to first get the approval of the University Grants Commission.
After the process, the commission will offer an initial approval of 10 years, after which it will be renewed in the ninth year. The approval will only be given if the university meets the required criteria and conditions set up by the UGC.
