New Delhi: University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all universities to fix the last date for undergraduate courses admission after the release of CBSE Class 12th Result 2022. The universities are required to wait for result declaration before closing the admission process.

The notice regarding UG Admission 2022 process in all universities was released after the CBSE reached out to UGC authority over starting of admission process in various universities in the country without waiting for CBSE Class 12th Result 2022 declaration.
The letter sent to VCs of all universities reads, “Universities have started registration in UG courses for the season 2022-23. In this scenario, the students from CBSE will be deprived of admission in the UG courses if the last date is fixed by the universities prior to the CBSE result declaration”.
"It is requested that all the higher education institutions may fix the last date of their undergraduate admission process after declaration of result of Class XII by CBSE so as to provide sufficient time to such students for admissions in UG courses" the letter further reads.
UGC Secretary Rajnish Jain informed that principals and directors of colleges, universities and other higher educational institutes are requested to ensure that sufficient time is provided to students of CBSE class 12th to apply for UG admission process for session 2022-23.
Earlier, the CBSE conducted the class 12th exam for session 2022-23 in two sets; the first term exam was held in November and December 2021, while the second term exam was conducted in April 2022. The result for the same is now expected to be released by the end of July 2022.
Informing about the result, the UGC letter says, "The evaluation of Term-II is going on and the process of result preparation will start. The final result will be declared by combining the weightage based on the performance of both the terms".
CBSE Requests Universities Not to Close Admissions Before Result Declaration
Earlier, the CBSE has requested UGC to ask all higher education institutions, colleges and universities not to close their admission process before the declaration of CBSE Class 12th Result 2022.
The request came after higher education institutes such as Mumbai University (MU) have started the admissions for various undergraduate courses at its affiliated colleges for session 2022-23 without waiting for CBSE and ISC Class 12th Result 2022.
In a letter to University Grants Commission, CBSE Board wrote, "It has come to the notice that some universities in India, especially in Maharashtra, have started registration in undergraduate courses for the session (2022-’23) and their last date is in the first week of July”.
“It is, therefore, requested that all the universities may please be directed to fix the last date of their undergraduate admission process keeping in mind the date of result declaration of Class XII by CBSE” the board further added.
Mumbai University has recently released the MU 2nd Merit List 2022 for admission to UG courses on July 07, 2022. The online fee submission and document verification process is open till July 13, 2022, for all shortlisted candidates.
This is the first time that Mumbai University has started its admission process before the announcement of board results. As per the data, last year's CBSE board results were declared on August 03, 2021, and the ISC board exam result was published on July 16, 2022.
While talking about MU Admission 2022, CBSE's Controller of Examination said, “In the case of MU, we have checked. They will complete the admission process only after our results are announced and all CBSE students who have met the cut-off marks will be given admission”.
