UGC Chairman: CUET UG 2022 Rank Lists will be Created by Universities Using Normalised NTA Scores Rather Than Percentile

New Delhi: According to the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) M. Jagadesh Kumar, universities will create the CUET UG 2022 rank lists using normalized NTA scores rather than percentile.

As a result of candidates taking the CUET 2022 on the same topic on different days, the UGC Chairman added, "CUET scores have been normalized to provide an equal playing field to students."

According to him, a group of experts from the Indian Statistical Institute, IIT Delhi, and Delhi University decided on the CUET normalization algorithm.

On September 16, the National Testing Agency (NTA) released the Common University Entrance Test results for Undergraduates (CUET UG). 2019 question papers were used in the six phases of the CUET 2022 exam, administered between July 15 and August 30 over 20 days and 38 slots.

The question paper was available in 13 languages (English, Hindi, as well as Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu) so that candidates from various regions could participate in the exam in the language in which they felt most comfortable writing and comprehending the format and methodology of the test.

The NTA had previously indicated that the percentile for each candidate, which is determined using the raw marks of the candidate as compared to the other candidates in the same session, will be included in the CUET UG normalization method or the equipercentile method.
