Tripura Govt. Introduces Workbooks for Classes 1-12 to Help them Prepare During Pandemic; Check Details Here

New Delhi: Tripura Government has introduced workbooks prepared by the State Council of Education Research (SCERT) to help the students prepare at home during the COVID pandemic.

These books, meant for the students from class 1 to 12, will be distributed free of cost to students in all the state schools.

On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath met with the reporters at the end of a 5-day training programme of Key Resource Persons (KRPs) under the Nistha 2.0 training project for secondary school teachers and the inaugural session of SCERT prepared workbooks.

The Minister stated that the Government would provide workbooks for the students so that they could prepare well at home.

Generally, students buy guidebooks and notes from outside. Workbooks of a total of 85 subjects have been launched today. State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has decided to launch workbooks for Class 1 to 12 and accordingly, we have launched workbooks of a total of 85 subjects today. This is the first initiative of its type adopted across the country”, Nath told the reporters in the meeting.

He also said that SCERT and the School Education Department will start distributing the workbooks so that all the students can get those before the next academic session begins.

The workbooks will include multiple practice sets, exercises and examples to help the students in the development of their meta-thinking faculty.

Earlier, on January 29, 2022, while Ratan Lal Nath was announcing the State Government’s decision to reopen all educational institutions, he commented on how badly the COVID 19 pandemic affected the entire education system and caused some serious damage to the progress of the students as well as their mental health.

Further, he commented on how keeping schools closed for almost two years caused harm to the student's emotional well-being and not being associated with their friends inflicted damage to their mental growth.

In 2019, Tripura Government announced ‘Nutan Disha’ to assess the true educational status of the students and help them learn the syllabus from Class 3 to 8, in order to minimise the gap of learning loss.

It included an educational assessment of each student of the state in the primary as well as elementary level. As a result, it was found that 57% of the school students within classes 3 and 8 could not read or solve the basic arithmetic problems.

The Government also introduced several innovative steps such as recorded lessons being broadcasted through local television channels and the national telecaster, neighbourhood classes, SMS and social media-based lessons, etc.

Following this initiative, Tripura Govt. initiated the running of a dedicated channel where renowned educationalists discuss curricular and co-curricular topics to students stuck at home during the pandemic.

Eight months after launching this ‘Vande Tripura’ channel, the Government further started educational news bulletins for students, teachers, parents for 10 minutes twice a week during January 2022.
