New Delhi: Telangana State Government is now planning on starting eight new medical colleges and increasing the admission seats for MBBS course by 1200 in medical government colleges in the state from the academic year 2022-23.

As per Telangana State Government, the authority is now waiting for approval from National Medical Commission (NMC) to start the eight new medical colleges. With this, students who are applying for admission to MBBS course will be offered with 1200 more admission seats.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has already approved four new medical colleges in the state in Jagtial, Nagarkurnool, Sangareddy, and Wanaparthy districts. While the permission for remaining colleges in other districts is expected to be released in the next few weeks.
Talking about the initiative, the government officials stated that after receiving the approval, the government will start the remaining four colleges in Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Kothagudem, and Ramagundam districts in the state.
As of now, the total number of MBBS seats in government colleges is 1700, which will be further increased by 1200 after the inauguration of new colleges. Each medical (MBBS) college in Telangana state is expected to offer about 150 seats for MBBS Admissions.
In addition to this, the state government is also preparing to establish at least one medical college in each district of the state. The total estimated cost of this initiative is over INR 1000 crore, the officials further informed.
NMC’s Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has also sent the official approval to authorities to start new medical colleges in Wanaparthy and Sangareddy districts from the academic year 2022-23 with 150 MBBS admission seats in each college.
