SRM University AP Launches Aadigyan to Celebrate Indian Culture; Check Details Here


New Delhi: SRM University has launched Aadigyan, the flagship initiative of the International Relations and Higher Studies office to introduce India’s rich philosophy, arts, and culture globally in hybrid mode on February 26, 2022.

G Kishan Reddy, Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Development of India's North Eastern Region was the chief guest of the event.

He said, “It is heartening to launch Aadigyan, which marks the beginning of sharing Indian values, culture, heritage and art to a global level. I wish Aadigyan success and congratulate SRM University for providing this wonderful opportunity to the world”.

SRM University Vice-Chancellor V.S. Rao presented the Aadigyan promo clip, stating that the programme strives to merge education with Indian art and culture.

Naga Swetha Pasupuleti, associate director, International Relations and Higher Studies, introduced the partnering institutes- ISKCON, The Art of Living, The Temple Dance, Nrityanjali, Isha Foundation, Rajyoga Education & Research Foundation, Brahma Kumaris, and Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence, Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad.

When introducing Project Samskriti to the students of SRM University, Radhe Jaggi from the Isha Foundation emphasised the need for nurturing, conserving and exposing the magnificence of ancient Indian arts when they are practised as hobbies.

B.K. Shivani, Brahma Kumaris' motivational speaker and spiritual teacher, emphasised the need of living in the fundamental equations of life. As part of Aadigyan, the Brahma Kumaris will provide courses on value education and holistic wellness.

As an SRM University alumni, Radheshyam Das, founder of VOICE (Vedic Oasis for Inspiration Culture and Education) and president of ISKCON, Pune, praised the university's efforts to focus education on human-making rather than money-making.

Dance transcends the boundaries of physical reality. Prateeksha Kashi, an Indian Kuchipudi dancer, emphasised that Indian dance traditions are extensively utilised for therapeutic purposes, while actress Himansee Katragadda, the founder of The Temple Dancing, expressed her delight at the opportunity to teach Kuchipudi dance classes to SRM University students.

Tushar Guha, the founder and chairman of Nrityanjali Group said, “Let us not forget the identity and dignity of our own culture and traditions”. "Diversity is the basis of existence and India celebrates diversity," said Rajeev Nambiar, director of National Teachers Coordination, The Art of Living.

Dr Rewant Vikram Singh, Diplomat - High Commission of India, Sri Lanka; Ms Goli Gabby, Health and Wellness Coach and Educator; Swami Bodhamayananda, R K Math; and Ms Jennifer Mawulolo Ami Ametewee First Secretary - Trade, Tourism & Culture Officer High Commission of India, Ghana were among the special invitees who spoke at the virtual ceremony.

Several cultural programs were performed by SRM University students at the ceremony. Ms Revathi Balakrishnan, Assistant Director- Student Affairs, congratulated all of the prominent invitees and audience members who attended Aadigyan's virtual inauguration event.
