Gender Diversity at SPJIMR: Without Preferential Weightage

SPJIMR gives umpteen importance to upholding a culture of gender diversity in its campus. In line with this, the new 40th PGDM batch is no exception to this norm. With every passing year, SPJIMR is observing an increased share of women candidates.

However, the striking factor is, number of women candidates in PGDM batch has been granted admission devoid of a quota for women or a preferential weightage in the final selection.

Welcoming SPJIMR PGDM Batch of 2020-22

The new batch was welcomed through an online inauguration ceremony in the virtual presence of present students, faculty and staff.

Dr Ranjan Banerjee, Dean, SPJIMR, said, “we want to build a generation of leaders who balance collaboration and competition; self and the other; who go into the world with idealism, and a deep desire to leave the world a little bit better than they found it.”

PGDM Chairperson, Dr Sajeev Abraham George, said “It is a first that we have 100 girls in the batch, and we are very happy to have students with such a variety of backgrounds and from different parts of the country.

It is this diversity of the batch along with SPJIMR’s pedagogical innovations centred around experiential learning, that makes our programme distinct and we hope that our students would become value-based leaders in the uncertain and unpredictable times we live in”.

SPJIMR: PGDM Selection Process of 2020

As a mandate, SPJIMR selected candidates ensuring they have exceptional Curriculum Vitae that includes reference to extracurricular activities along with academics. The institute follows a profile-based selection process.

So, even if a candidate scores a 99 or 100 in CAT or XAT, without an excellent CV, the candidate will not be selected.

This year, SPJIMR conducted GD-PI from January 14-February 21, 2020 in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata. The CAT 2019 and XAT 2020 score cut-offs were 85 percentile for admissions, this year.
