New Delhi: India's first Skill India International Centre was inaugurated in SDI Bhubaneswar by Union Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday, April 16.

Skill India International Centre will give high-quality training to Indian youth, particularly from Odisha who want to work overseas. It will house training facilities that will deliver skills in line with the needs of multinational employers.

This centre will also have a large network of partnering organisations and abroad recruiters to assist the supply of qualified and certified workforce in other nations such as Canada, Australia, and the Gulf Region.
The Skill India International Centre is formed in collaboration between the Skill Development Institute (SDI) in Bhubaneswar and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), a division of the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

An official statement from the ministry stated, “This centre will have services such as mobilisation, counselling, skill training, pre-departure orientation, foreign language training, placement, and immigration and post-placement support".
The NSDCI and Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) inked an MoU at the event to promote international workforce mobility for trained and certified employees from Odisha to other countries. While the NSDCI will assist in aggregating demand from several countries, the OSDA will assist in raising awareness, training, and funding for individuals who wish to work abroad.
The Union minister also inaugurated a World Skills Academy and a National Academy for Skill Teachers (NAST) at the SDI campus. NAST will provide skill training to teachers and examiners in response to evolving industry demands. These three new world-class facilities will improve the quality of skill training to worldwide standards.
“Bridging the gap between overseas employers and skilled Indian youth, Skill India International Centre is a pivotal step towards accelerating international workforce mobility from Odisha. Initiatives launched today will not just open up overseas job opportunities for our youth, it will also go a long way in creating a world-class workforce equipped with the right skills to overcome global challenges and drive the future of work, the Union Minister stated.
Ved Mani Tiwari, director of NSDCI, and Tariq Chauhan, chairman of EFS Facilities Group, signed an MoU to collaborate on the establishment of skilling and training centres across India and worldwide for promoting the mobility of trained, skilled, and certified Indian workers overseas. The representatives from major UAE companies attended the event.
