New Delhi: MediSim VR, a Med-tech startup, has launched India's first fully automated Virtual Reality (VR) lab at the Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences. The lab is built to strengthen the key medical skills of MBBS students and train them for the future.

Dr Adith Chinnaswami, co-founder, MediSim VR said, “The timing is right to equip our Indian doctors or medical fraternity with the next evolution in technology in their area of learning and development. India is known to be a strong destination for medical science expertise. With this product, our plans are directed toward the pre-final and final years of the MBBS degree".
"We also want to unveil new content for nursing and allied health professionals and are looking to partner with the right firm. We aim to expand to not just the medical fraternity but the entire healthcare fraternity. And of course, both regional and global expansion is next on the radar,” added Dr Adith.
“Eventually we are aiming to move into the clinical side of this landscape as VR has a lot of potential in terms of changing perceptions about traditional and manual approaches. Applying VR in therapy, vocational counselling, phobia management, and pain management can do wonders. We hope to enter the market with a product backed by deep research in this space as well,” Dr Adith further added.
The medical industry is predicted to experience significant transformation as a result of AI-powered technological innovation, with benefits such as expert medical advice, digital diagnostics, wearable health monitoring, and digital simulations. MediSim creates virtual reality platforms to make complete medical training available and affordable to people all over the world.
As the Indian medical industry embraces virtual reality, physicians, surgeons, medical practitioners, pharma manufacturers, and hospitals are rapidly utilising VR and AR technologies. As a result, MediSim VR is optimistic about establishing a significant market presence.
This initiative will pave the path for the next generation of doctors. MediSim VR just completed a pre-series A round of funding. The company was also backed by funds from IIT Madras & Dept. of Science & Technology (DST) for R&D.
