New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bilaspur campus during his visit to Chattisgarh in the second week of September 2022. The exact date and schedule for his visit are yet to be finalized.
As per the report, the newly constructed campus of AIIMS located in the Bilaspur district will aim to provide affordable and quality healthcare services to the people of the state. It will also offer quality medical education to interested and eligible students on the campus.
Following the report, the campus of AIIMS Bilaspur is located in the village of Kothipura in the Bilaspur district and is spread over nearly 247 acres, about 99.96 hectares of land on National Highway 205 at Shimla Kangra road.
Informing about the key highlights of AIIMS Bilaspur, Director, Dr. Vir Singh Negi said, "the institute intends to develop new and improved patterns of teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in all its branches”.
With this, the institute will aim to demonstrate a high standard of medical education to all medical colleges and other allied institutions in India, he further added.
Earlier this week, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur called a review meeting with the government officials and director of AIIMS to know about the status of AIIMS Bilaspur. Once the final preparations are done, the institute will be inaugurated by PM Modi, he stated.
Referring to the event, an official informed that, " We’re keeping eye on the declaration of the assembly elections and as the Model Code of Conduct comes into force immediately, the program has been scheduled in the second week of September”.
Earlier, on January 03, 2018, the government officials of the Union Cabinet, Government of India approved the construction plan of AIIMS Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh under Phase 5 of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).
The foundation stone of the AIIMS Bilaspur campus was laid by PM Modi on October 3, 2017, and the onsite construction work of the project started in June 2019. This project is being developed in 3 phases and its present development is taking place in phase-I.
