PM Modi to Provide Stipend, Health Insurance upto INR 5 Lakh under PM CARES for Children


New Delhi: Prime minister Narendra Modi has released the benefits under the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES) for Children Scheme today, May 30, 2022, via video conferencing. 


The scholarship will be provided to all the school-going students under the PM CARES for children scheme. 

According to PM Modi, the students will receive INR 4,000 per month under the PM CARES for Children and free treatment up to INR 5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. 

Further, the students will also get a chance to receive INR 10 lakh when they turn 23 years of age. 

Introduced in 2021 by PM Modi, the main objective of the PM CARES for Children scheme is to help and support children who lost their parents or guardians to the Covid-19 pandemic during March 11, 2020, and February 28, 2022. 

The scheme seeks to ensure that such children get the care and protection. The primary aim of the PM CARES for children scheme is to empower such students by supporting them financially in education through scholarships and financial support. 

As part of the PM CARES for Children scheme, the students were given a passbook and a health card under Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. 

In order to make use of these benefits, the eligible students are required to register on the PM CARES for Children scheme portal at -- pmcaresforchildren.in. 

The portal is a single-window system website that will assist the children with the approval process and all also provide assistance.

During the video conference, the PM said that the PM CARES fund helped a lot in preparing hospitals, buying ventilators, and setting up oxygen plants during the pandemic. 

Due to this many lives could be saved and those who left the world untimely, the fund is being used for their children, for the future of all of them, he said. 

PM Modi tweeted that PM-CARES for Children Scheme will support those who lost their parents to Covid-19 pandemic. 

Benefits under PM CARES for Children: How to Avail? 

Step 1: Visit the PM-CARES for Children Scheme portal @pmcaresforchildren.in. 

Step 2: Register the ward on the portal with necessary details. 

Step 3: Submit your application at the portal. 

Upon approval by the government, the benefits will be transferred to their bank account. Currently, the government has received 9042 applications under the scheme. 4345 applications have been approved by them.
