NSNIS Patiala, in collaboration with CSS SRIHER, Chennai has jointly introduced various new courses in the field of sports sciences. Both the institutes signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly conduct 6-month certificate courses in the Sports Science subjects.
These courses have been launched by NSNIS Patiala to inculcate the knowledge of sports science for training athletes in the very preliminary stages.
This main aim of the program is to provide opportunities to the young minds indulged in the field of sports science to further excel their expertise.
Sports Physiotherapy and Sports Nutrition are two courses being introduced online at first by NSNIS. , The admission procedure for these courses will be commencing from August 10,2020.

Aim of Sports Physiotherapy and Sports Nutrition courses
To train the professionals who can work along with the community coaches and development level courses applying science at grassroot level training.

Eligibility Criteria
Sports Physiotherapy Courses
Candidates are eligible to appear for the written exam of the Sports Physiotherapy only if they have qualified both Masters and Bachelors in Physiotherapy. Moreover, it requires 3- year work experience under a sports team or club in a sports institute.
Sports Nutrition courses
Sports Nutrition course requires a candidate to be qualified at least a Masters in any stream such as-
- Food and Nutrition
- Applied Nutrition
- Public Health Nutrition
- Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics
- Food Science & Sports Nutrition
Curriculum of the courses
During the 6-month course, a 2-week physical workshop will be organised post pandemic period. Thereafter, the final certification will be done online on the basis of a quiz and theoretical exam.
On the whole, these courses have been inculcated to strengthen the grass-root level sports ecosystem by providing training in a more scientific way.
On the completion of these courses,these professionals will be brought to work with community and developmental coaches. The courses wil, provide better training for the candidates
Furthermore, in the second segment of the journey, the courses such as Sports Physioterapy and Sports Nutrition will be covered as a part of exercise physiology sports biomechanics, strength and conditioning, sports psychology.

The filling of the application forms for these courses have commenced between August 3-10,2020. The same procedure will take place through online mode and the eligible candidates can appear for the exams on August 16,2020 and the classes for the courses will commence from August 24,2020.
