NMC Seeks Feedback on Draft Amendment in Teacher Eligibility Qualifications Regulations


New Delhi: The "Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2022" draught has been circulated by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for comment. Within a month, medical schools, students, and the general public can submit their comments by email at coordination@nmc.org.in.

It is kindly requested to share public comments on the draught amendment to the Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2022 as per Section 57 of the NMC Act, 2019 at the following e-mail ID - coordination@nmc.org.in in MS Word (.docx) format or machine readable PDF format within 30 days. A medical student's ability to work as a teacher in a medical college has changed, according to the proposed amendment. Prior to this change, eligibility was "12.3 In this situation, he will be qualified for the position of Assistant Professor in the relevant department, and any further promotions will be in accordance with the Teachers "Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Requirements-2022."

This is being changed to: "12.3 In such cases, if he/she has obtained an MBBS degree in India and a postgraduate degree from any of the five English-speaking nations listed in Section 12.1, he/she shall be eligible for registration in India as a specialist and if, after obtaining a PG degree, he/she has been working in a teaching hospital, he/she shall be considered for teaching positions in medical sciences, depending on his/her teaching
