New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has asked all medical colleges and institutions to compulsorily register and get the All India Survey Higher Education (AISHE) code.

NMC has asked the institutions to frame compliance regarding this at the earliest. Medical colleges can apply for registration through the official website of AISHE at aishe.gov.in.
“The list of institutions registered in the AISHE is used widely by central ministries and state governments for checking genuineness of student applications in different schemes. A wide use of this is done in the National Scholarships Portal, where online application and processing of scholarships of different ministries are done, after which scholarships are sent through DBT mode to the students after proper online verification, de-duplication etc.,” said NMC in an official notification.
As per the official statement by NMC, the Department of Higher Education launched AISHE in the year 2011 under the Central Sector Scheme of Higher Education Statistics and Public Information Systems (HESPIS). AISHE is a web-based annual survey run through a dedicated web portal – aishe.gov.in. The portal is to create a database of the educational institutions providing higher education in India.
The coverage of AISHE includes all tertiary-level educational institutions, including those engaged in imparting medical and nursing education. All recognized institutions apply online for registering in AISHE through this web portal, after which they provide regular data annually, the notice further added.
