NMC Not Responsible for MBBS Admission in Colleges; Warns Against Fake Seat Allotment Letter


New Delhi: National Medical Commission (NMC), India has issued a public notice regarding a fake allotment letter confirming the admission to MBBS courses, allegedly signed by the NMC Chairman. In the notice, the commission also confirmed that it is not involved in any MBBS admission process.

“It has come to notice that fake allotment letters under the alleged signature of the Secretary, National Medical Commission are under circulation. It is brought to the public notice that the Commission does not offer admissions in any medical college or involved at all with college allotment process”, as stated in the letter. 

The public notice issued by NMC has the fake allotment letter attached to it that includes the registration number of a student and states the following:

“We are delighted to inform that you are now Registered with our Organisation with Registration No- MCCBRS12605”. Eight Lakh only”, as added by the fake letter, signed by Dr Suresh Chandra Sharma, the NMC Chairman. 

Regarding this fake letter, the public notice issued by NMC India also states that it is an attempt by the imposters to tarnish the image of the authority. 

It is a fabrication intended to tarnish the image of the National Medical Commission which in fact is mandated to supervise highest ethical standards in medical profession”, as claimed by the NMC notice. 

About NMC

NMC is a statutory body that regulates medical institutions, medical researchers and medical professionals in India. It replaced the Medical Council of India in 2020. 

The letter further stated that the student is selected for the MBBS course on the basis of the document provided and the Campus is Terna Medical College, Nerul West, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra- 400706. 

“You have been successfully done with your seat allotment payment of amount (8,00,000/) 

As per the NMC official website, it assesses the requirements in the healthcare sector, such as human resources for health, healthcare infrastructure and so on. It also has the authority to grant recognition to medical qualifications, accreditation to medical schools and registration to medical practitioners.
