NMC Issues Clarification Notice on Eligibility for Appearing in Final Year PG Exams 2022

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a clarification notice stating the eligibility criteria for final year postgraduate (PG) students without completing the ‘Online course in Research Methods’ in order to appear in the final year exams 2022.

According to the NMC statement, the students pursuing PG medical courses will be permitted to participate in the final year exams 2022 provided that they completed the online course in six months.

The NMC notified in its notification that the online course is applicable for super speciality courses also. Medical students who have not completed the course are allowed to appear in the final year examination. However, such students will have to complete the course within six months.

The Dean will facilitate registration of the online course and the result of such students may be announced only after completion of the course, the notification said.

However, in case of non-availability of slots in ICMR, then the respective Institute is permitted to conduct the course and the Dean should provide a certificate for having completed the course, for the present batch only, it said.

Even the Board has decided that the Inspector or Assessor reserves the right to verify whether the students have completed the course or not.

The decision was taken after a number of representations from several medical institutes and PG students seeking exemption from completing the ’Online Course in Research Methods.
