NMC Gives Nod to 3 PG Dermatology Seats in IGGMCH

NMC has taken this decision after inspecting the need of the college last month. On tuesday, it had sent IGGMCH a letter mentioning all the deficiencies it has noticed and has asked the institute to submit a compliance letter.

Accordingly, the Dean had sent the compliance letter on Urgent basis and the apex body has, as a result, given permission to add 3 PG seats in the skin department.

The norms mentioned by NMC included that for the increased 3 seats in PG, one Professor, one assistant professor, one lecturer and one senior Resident are necessary.

The Dean of the college has expressed his gratitude to NMC for giving permission to these seats. He has assured that these seats would help them start new skin treatments and cater to the needs of more patients.

“Now, the working hands will be increased and we can provide specialised treatment to patients. We have laser treatment facility which can be rendered to the needy patients. Through PUVA therapy (Psoralen + ultraviolet light A) diseases like vitiligo, psoriasis can be treated. Right now 200-250 patients attend Outpatient Department (OPD) exclusively of Skin daily. With PG seats’ addition the number of patients getting attended will also increase. Many patients come with a complaint of Pemphigus. They go through lot of sufferings. Now the department can provide them the proper treatment,” said Dr Mishra.
