NIT Warangal, Indian Telephone Industries Collaboration to Upskill Manpower in Industrial Sectors


NIT Warangal and Indian Telephone Industries is likely to ink a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to leverage manpower in several industrial sectors.

The collaboration will enhance employability for students of NIT Warangal in sectors of Integrated circuit design (IC), communication and cybersecurity through joint research activities.

On Saturday, January 2, 2021, the same has been stated by ITI Director (HR) Shashi Prakash Gupta at an event organised to mark the launch of 10-days online course on Cybersecurity. This course will train selected engineers employed at Indian Telephone Industries Ltd, Bengaluru.

The program is sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India (GoI).

After virtually inaugurating the program, Director of NIT Warangal, Prof NV Ramana Rao, asserted, with increasing dependency of humans on the internet, issues like breaching security and privacy norms by hackers have become rampant.

He further said, “Sensitive information like Aadhar data, credit card information and bank account details are now stored in cloud storage services like Dropbox or Google Drive. It is necessary to provide security both at the personal level and organisational level.”

Likewise, Executive Director of Society, Electronic Transactions and Security, Dr N Sarat Chandra Babu, shared a general idea of Cyber Security. He also explained different elements of software security, hardware security that has advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Deep Learning (DL) and also integrated cybersecurity.

Dr Sreehari Rao Patri, the coordinator of the event said several eminent personalities from educational institutions NIT Warangal and Anna University and several organisations Bosch, AMD, Qualcomm, Western Digital, CDAC and SETS.

He added, Electronics & ICT academy set up at NIT Warangal has been successful in training about 20,000 faculty as well as industry personnel through its 330 programmes. Meanwhile, Professor T V Gopal, who is a cybersecurity expert from Anna University, and KGV Rao, AGM, ITI, Bengaluru, also addressed the event.
