NIRF 2023 Rankings: New Category Released; Applications Invited from Institutes

New Delhi: National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has added a brand-new category named Agriculture and Allied Sectors. The ministry of education introduced NIRF in 2015 to rate Indian universities and colleges according to objective standards to foster competitive excellence.

The eighth iteration of the NIRF Rankings, which will be released in 2023, has also issued an application call from the ministry of education. Registration for the India Rankings 2023 opened on October 17, 2022.

"NIRF has developed a new category, namely Agriculture & Allied Sectors," the ministry announced. Institutions who are interested in participating can do so under "Agriculture & Allied Sectors." The number of categories increased to 11 last year with the addition of the research institution category. The overall number has increased to 12 with the inclusion of the Agriculture and Allied Sectors category.

"Pre-registration has been completed by all institutions that took part in the last India Rankings exercise. To confirm institution details for the India Rankings 2023, a message has already been issued to the heads of the relevant institutions, according to the statement.

Any institute that is interested in taking part in the ministry's India rankings in 2023 must submit an application at nirfindia.org, the site's official address.

“In case of any query, contact National Board of Accreditation at helpdesk@nirfindia.org or call at 011-40159583/87/89,” it said.

The number of institutes participating in the NIRF rankings in 2022 has increased. In total, 7,254 people participated in the rankings in 2018, compared to 6,272 people in 2021. Last year, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras was named the top university in the engineering categories overall.

Teaching, learning, and resources (TLR), research, and professional practise (RP), graduation results (GO), outreach and inclusivity (OI), and peer perception will all be taken into consideration while ranking Indian institutions and colleges. For ranking the institutions in various categories, there are around 16 to 18 sub-characteristics in addition to these six main parameters.
