NIELIT Collaborates with Microsoft to Train Students on Cyber Security Skills


New Delhi: The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) and tech giant Microsoft launched a partnership on Wednesday to expand access to job-related skills through the Cyber Shikshaa and Ready4Cybersecurity programmes.

Nearly 3,500 students will receive training and opportunities for internships or jobs in high-demand cybersecurity fields. Microsoft and NIELIT will roll out the Cyber Shikshaa and Ready4Cybersecurity programmes in 30 NIELIT training facilities in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, with a special emphasis on Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Indian states in the North-East.

According to a press release, NIELIT and Microsoft worked together to teach young people in cybersecurity skills for employment. The announcement added that these programmes would be ramped up in the coming years to integrate cybersecurity training programmes in all of NIELIT's training centres. Among the pressing problems facing the digital economy are the lack of diversity in the workforce and the worldwide cybersecurity skills gap. According to studies, 3.4 million employees are required to close the cybersecurity employment deficit worldwide.

According to the press release, the partnership between NIELIT and Microsoft will assist close the talent gap for cybersecurity specialists and create job opportunities for 1,100 underprivileged adolescents in the first year of implementation. Additionally, it stated that 3,500 students will participate in training and obtain internship or employment possibilities in cybersecurity. Microsoft's assistance will not only come in the form of training funding but also in the form of mentorship opportunities, certificates, and course content.

Through the design and development of curricula and the acquisition of content, NIELIT, the nation's leading organisation for examination and certification in the field of Information, Electronics and Communications Technology (IECT), seeks to create skilled professionals and offer support to students and trainers. The news comes as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is currently visiting India.
