NEP 2020 to give Equal Importance to All Languages: Education Minister

New Delhi: A month-long "Kashi- Tamil Samagam" is being organised in Tamil Nadu in response to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's statement that all languages have been given importance in the National Education Policy. Under this event, about 25,00 people from Tamil Nadu will come here to learn about the culture and significance of Kashi.

The National Education Policy places priority on all languages (2020). A month-long Kashi-Tamil Samagam is being held in Kashi in recognition of this significance. In this month-long event, up to 2,500 individuals in 12 groups from three locations in Tamil Nadu are being invited to Kashi who will comprehend the significance of Kashi and its culture, the Union minister stated at a news conference here.

Pradhan also assessed the preparations being made for the Kashi-Tamil Samagam, which his department would host from November 17 to December 18, and he gave the authorities the appropriate instructions. "Academic exchanges—seminars, discussions, etc.—between experts/scholars on various aspects of these two ancient representations of Indian culture will be organised during the one-month programme," he stated.

The emphasis, according to Pradhan, "would be on bringing forth the linkages and common values amongst them." Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister for Education, also urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to call an all-party conference to assess the interstate committee's progress on the border disputes with Andhra Pradesh.
