NEP 2020 not against English, but emphasizes to strengthen Indian Languages: Education Minister

Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the Union Minister of Education highlighted in his recent statement on August 10 said that the central government wants to strengthen Indian Languages other than English in accordance with the NEP 2020.

In a webinar held on “Atma Nirbhar Madhya Pradesh”, Ramesh Pokhriyal spoke on the benefits of using mother tongue as a medium of education, wherein he also mentioned about some of the developed countries who have been successful in the accomplishment of adopting their mother tongue as a medium of education.

During the webinar, the Education Minister also highlighted some of the decisive features of NEP 2020. 

Features of NEP(New Education Policy) 2020:

The Union Education Minister has also highlighted some of the main characteristic- features of NEP 2020 which are as follows-

  • Artificial Intelligence has been integrated in the school education system from Grade 6 onwards.
  • Students can learn in their mother tongue till Grade 5.
  • The class performance of the students will be evaluated in the progress cards and not in the report cards.
  • Students will be provided to choose their subjects as per their own choice.
  • Students can also opt for literature and music along with science.
  • The policy also aims at bringing 2.5 crore dropouts in the mainstream.
  • Practical knowledge will be imparted to the students from Grade 6 onwards.
  • It initiates to ensure that the education will be imparted to the students of the various sections of the society.
  • It will be helpful in making India a hub in the field of knowledge and education.
  • It also initiates to send every child of each and every state to schools.
  • It focuses more towards imparting skills, knowledge and moral values to the children along with education.
  • Hence, the aim of Atma Nirbhar Bharat can successfully be achieved only when the states are self-reliant.
  • It has also been mentioned that the state of MP initiates working on the roadmaps to become Atma Nirbhar MP within a span of next 3 years.

During the webinar, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh said that the state government will ensure that every child in the state gets the education facilities and under the NEP 2020 we will implement skill education to the students from class VI onwards.

He also added that the goal of the Atma Nirbhar Madhya Pradesh can only be achieved when we as a state become self reliant and follow the roadmap of NEP 2020 to help the education system.
