The admission test to MICA, Ahmedabad for its flagship PGDM and PGDM-Communication (PGDM-C) is carried out over a period of 2 hours and 15 minutes. The duration has decreased by 45 minutes as compared to last year due to pandemic situation.

MICAT 2021 exam pattern includes both objective and subjective type questions to be answered in a computer-based mode.

MICAT 1 2021 Exam Analysis

SECTION A - PSYCHOMETRIC TEST

This section had a total of 150 questions, and the students had only 30 minutes to do the same. It was, therefore, necessary to answer all the questions quickly.

Last year there were 27 questions in this section. There were no correct or incorrect responses to this section.

Out of the total of 150, some 30 questions had to be answered in the form of True or False against the situation/course of action. The remaining 120 questions dealt with a specific personality trait or course of action and had to be addressed with any of the following options:

SECTION B - APTITUDE SECTION

DIVERGENT AND CONVERGENT THINKING

This section comprised of statement-assumption, word-association, logical data sufficiency and visual reasoning questions. Following is the break-up of the Reasoning questions in the section:

Following is the break-up of the non-verbal reasoning questions in the section, which had an easy to moderate difficulty level.

VERBAL ABILITY

In this section, test takers answered questions based on synonyms, sentence errors, jumbled paragraph, and paragraph completion. Candidates also got idiom-based questions and a Reading Comprehension passage, which was on the easier side.

QUANTITATIVE ABILITY AND DATA INTERPRETATION

This section consisted of 25 questions where the Quantitative Ability had 20 questions and the Data Interpretation section had the remaining 5 sections. The majority of the questions in the Quantitative Ability section were based on Arithmetic, which had 7 questions. Geometry had six questions and five were based on Modern Math. Numbers and sections of the Algebra had 1 question each. Most of the questions were based on basic concepts, but they were lengthy. Overall, the difficulty level in this section was easy to moderate.

The following is the breakdown of questions in the Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation section.

GENERAL AWARENESS

This section turned out to be tougher than last year's MICAT. The total number of questions in the General Awareness section is 25, of which 7 were based on national topics 13 were based on international topics. Five questions were based on different types of topics (logos, taglines, etc.).

SECTION C - DESCRIPTIVE TEST

In this section, test-takers were evaluated on the basis of their analytical and descriptive writing skills as well as their creative abilities. Candidates had a total of 30 minutes to try the questions in this section.

The first three questions were based on the topic 'Laziness: how it can benefit society.' While the first two questions required students to write three points each for and against the subject, the third question required students to write 300 words on 'steps by which a young manager could ensure that laziness could be used as a tool for organisational success.'

The first two questions had a weighting of 10 marks each. The fourth question had 30 marks and consisted of four pictures, in which students were required to write a particular pictorial combination and to elaborate the same in the form of a story.

MICAT I 2020-21 Good Attempts

MICAT I 2020 Result will be declared on 21st December. The application process for MICAT II is ongoing and the process will end on 20 January. On the basis of the performance of the MICAT I candidates, they may choose to appear for MICAT II. The best of the two scores will be considered by MICA for final admission.
