JRSU Becomes 1st University to Start Physical Classes in Jharkhand

The Jharkhand Raksha Shakti University (JRSU) emerged as the first University in Jharkhand to start physical classes since the Nationwide lockdown started in March 2020.

JRSU officials stated that the college was reopened and the standard mode of classes started with 40% attendance from November 2, 2020

Further, the officials informed that students looked enthusiastic to return to the campus again. The students from outstations have not yet arrived, hence the percentage of students is expected to be increased soon.

A total of 480 students out of which 200 newly enrolled students have been witnessed studying in the college.

The University Grants Commission permitted the universities across the country to conduct classes in an online or offline mode according to their preference from November 2, 2020, in their COVID 19 safety guidelines.

Officials stated that JRSU has sent a proposal to the government mentioning their plans to execute physical classes after the announcement of UGC.

Rajesh Kumar, JRSU registrar Colonel (retd) stated that because of connectivity issues, a huge section of students are not comfortable with online classes.

The University has the confidence to start physical classes safely being the new University having a relatively fewer number of students. The university also follows a different code of ethics for safety and discipline.

Prior information was also given to the education department and the classes were started only after that, said Rajesh.

JSRU: Safety Precautions

The varsity is taking the following precautions to control the spread of coronavirus.

• Social distancing
• Wearing of mask
• Use of sanitizer
• Thermal scanner
• The spacious laboratories are converted into classes to maintain social distancing
• The number of classes has been increased
• Lunch period was reduced by an hour

In order to regulate the presence of students on campus they were segregated according to their courses.

Further, to decide the continuation of physical classes they would review the offline classes for some time, said the university officials.
