Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMI) begins online open book exams for odd semester and final year students from January 18, 2021. As of now no glitches have been recorded because students have been given additional 1 hour to upload their answers.
JMI Delhi conducted its first phase of online open-book exams for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The exams are to be held till February 19, 2021. Students have been given 3 hours to complete the test and additional 1 hour to upload the answers sheets in the portal.
JMI issued guidelines for online open book exams where students were allowed to take exams from the comfort of their homes. Students are provided credentials to access the exam portal via email.
As per the guidelines, Teachers will be present in their respective departments to address students’ queries on JMI open-book exam question papers and other issues. The additional hour to upload answer sheets in the portal is provided considering the internet speed.
JMI issued a statement that no complaints have been recorded yet and exams are going smoothly. Nearly 1,008 students appeared for the UG exams in the morning shift, while 1,099 students appeared for the PG exams in the afternoon shift. It is said that a total 9,000 students have registered for the online open-book exams for all the courses offered at JMI .
Professor Najma Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor of the University wished good luck to the students and informed them that online book exams have been arranged keeping in view the pandemic situation. To reduce the risk of increase in Covid-cases, the varsity took the initiative to conduct online exams this academic year to sabotage the situation.
Earlier, Council of Academics decided to conduct JMI open-book semester-end exams after January 15. Jamia Millia University announced on Wednesday to hold a mock test before the final date sheet arrives.
After receiving approval from UGC, the university also decided to upload marks of students on the online platform. Moreover, the VC also declared that online classes for the next semester will begin shortly after the completion of exams.
