Under the control of the ministry of information and broadcast is IIMC, an independent institution. Work on it started in 2015. With the donation of 8 acres of land, the IIMC now has a permanent campus with distinct administrative and academic facilities, dorms, and staff housing.

Since its foundation, the north east campus has been providing a PG diploma in English journalism that welcomes students from all around India. Additionally, it enables students to find employment through campus placements and their own initiatives in reputable media organisations around the nation.
