New Delhi: According the statement made by the UGC Chairman M. Jagadesh Kumar, the two most popular online undergraduate courses are bachelors of business administration (BBA) and bachelors of computer application (BCA). 13,764 students have signed up for the BBA programme overall, 5,166 for the BCA programme, and 4,028 for the Bachelor of Arts programme for the academic session 2021-22.

Online programmes provide a window of opportunity to many students who are unable to join physically in a college or University. There is a steady increase in the number of enrolments in online programmes.

With 28,956 students enrolled, the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) programme continues to be the most popular online programme for postgraduate studies. The Masters of Computer Application had a total enrollment of 5,430 students, while the Masters of Commerce had 3300 students. The enrollment data includes both domestic and international candidates.
From 2020–21 to 2021–22, there has also been a notable rise in the number of students enrolling in online courses. A total of 25,905 students enrolled in online programmes in 2020–21; this number nearly tripled to 72,400 students in 2021–22.
The largest number of students have enrolled in deemed-to-be institutions (36,860), followed by private universities (19,547) and central universities (6888).
