New Delhi: Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan informed that the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) will soon offer a four-year-long Integrated Bachelor of Education (BEd) program. The course will be offered to increase the efficiency of teachers in the country.

The statement was made during the inauguration function of a new Kendriya Vidyalaya attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at the IIT Bhubaneswar campus in Odisha states on June 11, 2022.
Informing about this initiative, the Union Education Minister stated that the quality of education in many BEd colleges in India is not up to marks. With this step, the government aims to improve the overall education quality and efficiency of teachers in India.
The four-year integrated teacher education program will be offered to all interested and eligible applicants in various IITs In India under the NEP 2020. The B.Ed program will focus on providing appropriate training to teachers and increasing the development of students.

Talking about the program, the Education Minister officially tweeted, "This year, a 4-year integrated teacher education program or ITP pilot model will be launched to provide appropriate training to teachers under the National Education Policy".
"IIT Bhubaneswar is a prestigious institution in the field of higher education. In a conducive environment, students at Kendriya Vidyalaya will be interested in reading and learning about the use of technology" the official tweet further reads.
In addition to this, the Union Education Minister informed that the government is also preparing to establish PM Sri Schools in various states in India, including Odisha. The school will help students in preparing for their future and learn top skills from experts.
Adding to the statement, the Dharmendra Pradhan stated that the government will launch more Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya, and Eklavya Vidyalaya in Odisha state to improve the overall education quality in the state and offer better education opportunities to students.
Furthermore, five new schools will also be established in Odisha state with the support of Coal India Limited (CIL). This initiative will cover around INR 3 Lakh Crore and will be executed in the next four years, he added.
