The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is hosting a virtual workshop titled "Destination South India" in collaboration with the US Consulate General in Chennai. The goal is to assist South Indian educational institutions in becoming more capable of hosting US students.
The workshop will be held in collaboration with the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) and the Forum on Education Abroad from November 15 to 18, 2021.

IIT Madras is collaborating with the United States Consulate General in Chennai, the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF), and The Forum on Education Abroad (FEA) to bring speakers from various U.S. universities to the workshop. Those who are eligible to apply for this programme include:
- Educational institutions in South India that want to develop their current relationship with US university study abroad offices/US students, or schools that have not yet started such a collaboration but have the means and competence to host US students.
- NGOs that are capable of and enthusiastic in enhancing the field experience of American study abroad students.
Credit transfer, safety and mental health, field visits and classroom sessions, the role of Indian students, community ties, diversity and inclusion, research, ethical practises, and preparation for post-pandemic programs are among the key topics of the workshop.
The project's main objective is to increase the ability of South Indian institutions to assist more American students who want to study in India. The goal of this initiative is to promote South India as a study abroad option for US students.
