New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has opened its BSc. in Programming and Data Science Programme to students of Class XI and XII along with college students, working executives and those who are taking a career break.
IIT Madras is inviting applications for the May 2022 term of this one of its kind programme. It was launched in 2020.
To take some pressure off the students and to give them an opportunity to secure admission to IIT Madras while still in school, the institute is offering this opportunity to the Class XI and XII students.

IIT Madras BSc. in Programming and Data Science Programme 2022: Eligibility Criteria
Interested candidates can take note of the following eligibility criteria, as mentioned in the official statement of the institute:
- Students who will complete Class XI by May 2022
- Students who are currently in Class XII (they can start the coursework once they finish the class)
- Working professionals
- College students
- Students or professionals who are taking a career break
IIT Madras BSc. in Programming and Data Science Programme 2022: Selection Process
- There is no seat limitation, therefore, learners who are eligible for the JEE Advanced 2021 exam can directly join the programme. The application process is as followed:
- Applicants will have to go through four weeks of training, including video lectures, weekly assignments, discussions and live interaction with professors and course instructors
- Students, then have to attend the examinations at the designated centres in more than 130 cities
- Students have to write the exam on the basis of the four weeks of training
- Students who will receive the prescribed cut-off marks will be selected for the foundation course of BSc. in Programming and Data Science.

Here are the steps one should follow to apply to this programme:

Step 3- Fill the form with required data
Step 4- Submit the form
Step 5- Take a print out for future usage
Professor Andrew Thangaraj, Professor In-Charge, BSc in Programming and Data Science, IIT Madras has explained that through this programme, the institute aims to ensure that high-quality education is accessible to anyone who seeks to study at an IIT or build a career in this field.
“This program, we hope, will be a game changer in the field of education paving the way for many other large scale programs to be offered by us and other institutes”, as further added by the Professor.
More than 60,000 applicants have been received till date for the BSc qualifier process till date and more than 12, 500 students are pursuing this programme. There are students from different age groups (18-65 years) and from diverse educational backgrounds.

IIT Madras BSc. in Programming and Data Science Programme 2022: Scholarships and Delivery
There will be scholarships for eligible students to make it affordable. IIT Madras waives upto 75% fees based on the annual family income. There are other scholarships through CSR Partners as well.
The programme is flexible and the weekly content will be released on a portal so that students can access it anytime.
