IIT Madras Launches IDDD Programme on Quantitative Finance for 2023 Batch

New Delhi:  An interdisciplinary dual degree (IDDD) programme in quantitative finance has just been introduced at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras. The Departments of Management Studies, Computer Science and Engineering, and Mathematics will all jointly offer the new programme to BTech dual degree students.

All undergraduate engineering students at IIT Madras may participate in the new five-year IDDD programme. The IDDD in Quantitative Finance is an option that current students have starting in the sixth semester, according to the institute. In addition, there will be a total of 25 pupils in the class. In January 2023, the first group of IDDD students will be able to enrol in the programme.

IDDD Program's Quantitative Finance Relevance

When discussing the importance of this dual degree, IITM noted that "a unique mix of technology and finance enables the students to significantly contribute to the digitalization of the financial and banking business."

The Fintech sector, as well as financial intermediaries and portfolio management firms, will offer lucrative job prospects to graduating students. The course also helps aspiring business owners develop novel financial products and supports start-up enterprise concepts, it was said.

The IDDD programme is primarily created to help students quickly adapt to the most recent financial innovations and close the gap between the use of contemporary product and process technologies and cutting-edge finance. The course also heavily emphasises the application of quantitative techniques and theoretical reasoning.

Unique characteristics of the IDDD Program on Quantitative Finance

  • An original fusion of technology and finance is the IDDD Programme on Quantitative Science. It enables the students to advance in the financial and banking industries. Graduates of this programme will have lucrative employment options in the Fintech, financial intermediary, and portfolio management industries. The programme fosters start-up strategies and challenges entrepreneurs to develop novel financial solutions.
