New Delhi: IIT Madras incubation cell has received INR 14 crore from a digital healthcare platform, MediBuddy for development purposes on March 03, 2022.

As per IIT Madras, the co-founders of MediBuddy, Satish Kannan and Enbasekar were the first incubatees of the institute who joined the incubation cell. 

With this step, MediBuddy’s co-founders and alumni of IIT Madras have contributed to the overall growth and development of the institute.

As of now, the IIT Madras incubation cell has helped over 250 start-ups and entrepreneurs. The cell is working towards creating a supportive ecosystem for students and working professionals who wish to start their own start-ups. 

While talking about the contribution, Satish Kannan stated that the start of MediBuddy began as a deep tech incubator in 2013. “The initial INR 5 lakh that was given by IIT Madras helped us get started", he added. 

Adding to his statement, Satish Kannan said, “At MediBuddy are helping a lot of patients across the nation, and we are also able to express our gratitude to IIT with INR 14 crores. This capital, I believe will help at least 250 more startups like us realize their dreams”.

MediBuddy is now known as one of the leading digital healthcare startups in the country. The company is spread over 20+ cities in India and has about $ 125 million in Series C funding.

With the aim of providing feasible and affordable medical services in India, MediBuddy helps its users to connect with specialist doctors, book lab tests, and order medicines with ease.

In other news, the IITM Research Park (IITMRP) in association with IIT Madras and the IITM Alumni Association (IITMAA) has recently launched a book called ‘The IITM Nexus’. It records the journey of 16 IIT Madras alumni entrepreneurs. 

IIT Madras's book, “The IITM Nexus” is specially designed and authored by Shrikant Sundararajan, Shree Pandey, and Shibani Shashin. The book holds the ambitious vision of IIT Madras, IITM Research Park, and IITM Incubation Cell.

Satish Kannan and Enbasekar, alumni of the IIT-M joined the launch event of the IIT-M Nexus Book as honorary guests at the. The book features the success stories of the various alumni of the institute as well as their achievements in respected fields.
