IIT Kharagpur Joint MTech/ MCP-PhD program Admission 2023-24 Open; Apply till April 18

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology, (IIT Kharagpur) has begun the application process for admission to its Joint MTech/ MCP-PhD program for the academic session 2023-24. Interested and eligible candidates can enrol for the program by submitting the online application form through the official portal of IIT Kharagpur @www.iitkgp.ac.in. 

IIT Kharagpur offers Joint MTech/ MCP-PhD program for a duration of 2 years, where the participating students will receive an assistantship of INR 12,400/Month and INR 31,000/Month after getting enrolled to the Ph.D. program (if selected).

Hence, Candidates intending to enrol for admission to the above-mentioned program can apply online till April 18, 2023. 

IIT Kharagpur Joint MTech/ MCP-PhD Admission will be done based on the candidate’s performance in GATE followed by Personal Interview.

IIT Kharagpur Joint MTech/ MCP-PhD Admission 2023-24: Eligibility Criteria

In order to enrol for IIT Kharagpur Joint MTech/ MCP-PhD programs, candidates will have to fulfil the requisite eligibility criteria. 

• Candidates from all the categories holding a bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology /Architecture /M.Sc or equivalent professional degrees (AMIE etc.) and having a valid GATE score are eligible. 
• The GATE marks must be above the cut-off marks of your category and GATE paper.
• The NET Qualified candidates with fellowship having M.A or M.Sc Degree in Economics, Sociology, or Geography and having studied mathematics/ statistics at the higher secondary level or at the graduate level are eligible to be considered for selection to MCP-Ph.D. Program. 

• Under this program, at the end of first year, interested students having CGPA 8.0 and above are eligible to appear for written test and/or interview to judge their suitability to enrol for Ph.D. 
• Those who do not qualify for Ph.D. can continue with their two-year M.Tech/ MCP /M.Arch program

• The final selection of the candidates will be based on either GATE Score only or GATE Score and a Personal Interview.
• Personal interview will be held for the following: 
  • (a) Motivation and aptitude for the Programme 
  • (b) Suitability for the department/centre 
  • (c) Skills in basic science, engineering, and relevant areas.

Note: Personal interview will be conducted at IIT Kharagpur only.

Step 1: Visit the official application portal of IIT Kharagpur @www.iitkgp.ac.in. 

Step 2: Go to the homepage, navigate to the registration window and register yourself by filling the required details.  

Step 3: Now, it'll redirect you to the login page, where you can use your registration credentials and fill all details in the Application form.

Step 4: Pay the requisite application fee and submit the application form. 

Step 5: Finally, take a print out of the application form for future references.
