Informing about the collaboration, Delhi Police Commissioner stated that IIT Delhi and Delhi Police will work together to find solutions for new communication systems, drone forensics, and the integration of CCTV feeds on a single platform with the help of new technologies.

Under this MoU, IIT Delhi will assist the Delhi Police in infusing new technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and drone technologies for better management of traffic and maintenance of law and order in the city.

Referring to the initiative, Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana stated that collaboration will also focus on enhancing the technical specifications for bullet resistance jackets and vests and solving issues related to parking.

He said, "the MoU will assist Delhi Police to adopt innovative technologies and develop indigenous digital trunking communication system, and CCTV integration platforms in consonance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat".

Due to the limited resources, the maintenance of law and order, safety of citizens, traffic management, and prevention of misuse of mobile phones and voice over internet protocol (VOIP) are some of the challenges faced by the Delhi Police.

This collaboration is a step towards finding solutions to these problems with the help of the latest technologies. "Technology and systems required by Delhi Police in future will be developed to make Delhi Police the best in the world," he added.

The MoU was signed by the Director of IIT, Professor Rangan Banerjee, and Special Commissioner of Police (Technology and Project Implementation Division) S B K Singh in Delhi. Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana was also present during the event.
