New Delhi: On July 6, IIT Delhi introduced the new census data workstation for academicians and researchers. At the Economics lab, in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, the workstation has been inaugurated at IIT Delhi.

Dr Vivek Joshi, the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India inaugurated the census data workstation. He stated that the workstation will help to access Census Microdata for academicians and researchers.
The workstation aims at spreading awareness about the extensive amount of data during Census operations in the country. Deputy Director of IIT Delhi, Ashok Ganguly, and Head of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Angelie Multani welcomed the initiative in their presence at the event.
Also, admission to IIT Delhi has begun for the academic year 2022-2023. Candidates can visit the official website for registration and further information regarding the admission process.
Dr Joshi further invited IIT Delhi to undertake research on census data and operations. During the inauguration of the workstation, an MoU was also signed between Shri Ajay Garg from the Directorate of Census Operations Delhi and Professor Ganguli from IIT Delhi.
A discussion between DCO Delhi and IIT Delhi was also held to explore the possibility of applications of AI, ML and advanced data science techniques in the digital census and for compiling birth and death registration information and many more.
