IIT Delhi Inks MoU with POSOCO for Research on India’s Power Sector and Strengthen Academia and Industry Interaction


New Delhi: IIT Delhi inked MoU with Power System Operation Corporation Limited (Posoco)-NRLDC on Wednesday, April 20. The agreement was made to encourage research on issues relating to India's power sector and strengthen collaboration between academia and industry.


The MoU was signed on the IIT Delhi campus by NRLDC (POSOCO) Chief Rajiv Kumar Porwal and FITT Chief Operating Officer Col Naveen Gopal (Retd). Professors from IIT Delhi and officials from POSOCO's NRLDC attended the occasion.

The goal of this partnership is to improve academia-industry interaction with the objective of knowledge sharing and capacity building through collaboration as well as to promote research on topics related to India's power sector.

The topics include data sciences or data analytics, ancillary services for grid operations, short-term demand and RE forecasting using artificial intelligence and machine learning, dynamic security assessment, phasor measurement, and unit analytics, among others.

The company tweeted, “POSOCO-NRLDC signed an MoU with IIT Delhi to encourage research on issues related to India’s power sector and strengthen academic-industry interaction with the aim of knowledge sharing and capacity building through collaboration”. 

Previously, IIT Delhi collaborated with Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to address water security challenges in Delhi. As per this partnership, both organizations will work together on specified research and development initiatives in the areas of water supply and distribution, wastewater transportation, treatment, recycling, reuse, and disposal.

To attain the aim of zero waste discharge into drains and the river Yamuna, IIT Delhi and Delhi Jal Board will strive to create policy and best practice initiatives for wastewater treatment and reuse recycling.
